Been wanting to draw this one for a little while now. If anyone has seen my most recent journal post, you will know I've been having some pretty intense and vivid dreams. Throw in a little musical inspiration with those dreams and you get this piece.The song this was partially based on is 'Everlong' by the Foo Fighters. (lyrics below):

Yeah, sketching stuff out in pencil first is not how I roll. It allows you to make mistakes and second guess yourself, and I hate that. I would rather make a mistake and try to improvise it as I go or just not do it at all. Thank you!

I love the wings of the moth the live flowers and the ones that look like they are dying. Stunning piece, amazing amount of detail here.

gorgeous! it's really interesting to see how colors differ from one artist to another, even though both people have the exactly the same markers. you have some colors i've never made and probably vice versa! i am a huge foo fan, so that helped me enjoy it even more. good stuff!

you made me think, what if you gave two painters the same 3 paints, same brand, same colors for each, how would it turn out!
i mix the colors with sharpies too, although a lot of it is bits of shading here and there, enough so it looks like the colors are new ones. what are your favorite sharpie colors?
there's a bunch of them that seem to me that go together so well and i always reach for them-the dark pink, the hot pink, red, two of the purples two of the lighter blues, teal, and sometimes yellow. i outline almost all my drawings with black ones, i think it's because i think of all drawing in terms of tattoos! i'm sure you understand that!
have you tried the brush ones? they're probably too big and clunky for you. the think i like about them is that you can use them over paint, which is huge for me! the regular ones are ruined as soon as you draw a tiny bit over very dry paint! no longer! lol

haha! I understood you perfectly, so no worries.
When I started mixing colors, I did the same as you and just used it sparingly for pops of color or blending. Now, I use it for large pieces of the page. My fave Sharpie colors are probably the jewel tone ones (purples, blues, oranges) and green. I like the brighter colors as well, depending on where I think the picture is going as I draw it. I always use ultra fine ones or a Sharpie pen for all of the outlining. I have not used the brush ones, bc I do prefer the fine tips and being able to get clean, thin lines.
