Description Another stab at this one. Spent hours looking for some suitable crew figures - until someone pointed out that there was on onΒ  the Lightwave content CD which was sitting right next to me.

Damn! Missed this - not now!

Again, a simple image made super with your skills sir - I can feel the cold of the water, the hell of the storm, and the fury of war!

SUPERB!!

Gorgeous. I love how you managed to perfectly catch the pitch and roll of a WWII era submarine on the surface; most artists simply show them flat and still when surfaced.
Most subs of that era rolled heavily on the surface, unless the ocean was perfectly still; which the North Atlantic seldom was.

I think you did good. It doesn't have to be picture perfect, the soft blend of low light and shadow gives its the doom and gloom the moment required.

Thanks
I used Lightwave to rendered the base scene, lighting and explosion effects. The liberty ship is a Google sketchup model converted for use in Lightwave. Once rendered I took it into Photoshop where the waves and splashed were added using a brush set by Frostbo. The rain was added using a mixture of filters and custom brushes. Finally I used the free NIKΒ  photoshop filter set ( from Google) to tweak the image colours.
