Quintessential scene of old Bayeux, which I kick myself for not managing to photograph in good light despite being there for a week! The building with the lettering on it seems to be deserted, serving mostly as a home for pigeons.Bayeux is a small town in Normandy, France, home (perhaps unsurprisingly) to the Bayeux tapestry. I found it a nice, fairly quiet and laid back place to visit, and very strongly 'French', somehow, despite the way the town caters well to English speaking visitors.

The whole town seems to have slipped the time-stream remaining in the 10th century.

Berenger, count of Bayeux, had a daughter who married Rollo,1st duke of Normandy and they were ancestors of William the Conqueror. Berenger's ancestry is not known because the BLOOMING bast didn't keep a personal journal about himself !

That's beautiful! I saw the tapestry there when I was tiny but don't really remember the town.
