You'll have to put the police car on a ferry and float it over to europe to arrest Leopold. And a PRN sub will torpedo your precious cargo. Down with the titanic, your officer with be a pile of bones and bubbles, eaten by krill and crabs.

You made Luketopia canon in your universe and we already had developed some of our most prestigious weaponry by 2018 and ION engines for our space craft by 2020. Probably by 2040 or whenever Panterria takes place. We'll have robotic soldiers. RIP Panterria. Destroyed by the Banana.

Still waiting for the Panterrian Government response to the Luketopian official diplomatic beating of Lenin.

Any reason you decided to buy 5 million collar tabs and shoulder boards instead of 1 pair of each?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Grand-Lobster-King In reply to mclj10 [2015-10-19 12:49:15 +0000 UTC]

The guy wanted $1 /pair for each thing and it would be a much better deal to just buy it all instead of one of each. So I talked the guy down $10 and grabbed EVERYTHING for $40.

(Plus the four medals on the left were $65)

Oh, and bar27262 kept going on about how he had a better collection so I tried to beat him in his own special area, Soviets.

Original issue to WWII soldiers, not 70th anniversary of Stalin blowing his nose medals, two of which I own.

Luke27262 In reply to Grand-Lobster-King [2015-10-19 18:05:13 +0000 UTC]

Original issue? Nah, those are reissues. I know for a fact they are. And those are hardly original WWII even if they were original issue.Β

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Grand-Lobster-King In reply to Luke27262 [2015-10-19 18:16:37 +0000 UTC]

Any evidence that they are reissues?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Luke27262 In reply to Grand-Lobster-King [2015-10-20 00:36:15 +0000 UTC]

Do you have a moment to step in to the chat? If not, then let's walk you through it.

It's easy to tell that these are reissues. Even the Berlin one isn't "WWII". It was awarded far after combat ended along with the other liberation awards along with your victory medals. The reason that they are reissues is due to the fact that a shit-ton of Soviet soldiers stormed Berlin. Some got missed. You can tell because the post 1950 version has a more detailed Stalin and the Stalin on yours is far more detailed. But even if these were original issue, they wouldn't be worth scrap. Around $15 or $30 dollars. Even for the Capture of Berlin one. Why? simple. They were awarded in mass quality and most of them were minted and awarded FAR after the war ended. I mean 1946 and the years beyond.

I have original soviet things from WWII. My soviet star badge saw Stalingrad, Konigsberg, Berlin and all the cities inbetween. And soon, I'll have the whole uniform and hat that it came off of.

See, the thing when it comes to Soviet collecting. Just because it is something about WWII doesn't mean it was in WWII. If you want to truely beat me; My tip to you is simple. Buy a Order of the Patriotic War or a Defense of Stalingrad medal. Those were worn on the M43's during combat and saw combat all the way from the time they were awarded to the end.Β

Grand-Lobster-King In reply to Luke27262 [2015-10-20 02:35:20 +0000 UTC]

Heh, I'm not convinced at all, and it's not just because I'm in denial of a truth. I'm scanning the entire internet and I find zero evidence to back this claim you have. Reissued medals would be LESS detailed, not more...not to mention they would not be alloy they are, just crappy brass or whatever like the later ones from the 60's.

The only reissue I can find at all is the 80's order of the patriotic war. It's a joke compared to the WWII one when it comes to quality, plus it's made and marked differently.Β

I'm okay with them not being worth much, I bought them for peanuts anyway. I was aware that the medals were not worn during the war, but they were worn during the victory parade and they were worn by the real soldiers and were not cast by some children in pakistan in 2003 and shipped over to my house from eBay. They have a good enough history for me. They're real and from WWII, that's what matters to me. And they aren't perfect attendance medals or the 30th anniversary of Zhukov mowing his lawn medal. Bullshit medals like that, you know hat I mean. And I have two of them.Β The capture of berlin. Feels kind of weird having both sides of the battle now. I just need to make sure the nazi and soviet patches don't fight each other, kind of like toy story.

My original M43 uniform that saw action in Stalingrad will beat your collection whenever I buy it.

As I said, it's not about quanity. It's about the item itself and quality and it's history.

On a unrelated note, post a picture of the back for me.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Grand-Lobster-King In reply to Luke27262 [2015-10-20 15:28:36 +0000 UTC]

That I can agree with.Β

Well while a lot of the stuff piled up here is unissued stuff, which I somewhat try to avoid, some of it was issued. Some of it was made right at the end of the SU 1989, 1990. Quantity helps, you know. How do you think the T-34s beat the German monster tanks. It was with numbers! Overwhelming the Germans, pushing them back.Β

The medals are from the era and were worn by WWII soldiers. The capture of berlin one is epic, it holds all the mist and aroma of that epic, final, desperate battle. To me the battle of berlin is the most interesting battle of the war. 1,500,000 pissed off russians vs. whatever the germans have left, which is a couple policemen, old men, kids, and a decent number of actual trained soldiers. The SS were there and they did fight to the last breath. Your beloved soviets captured the reichstag (after they had to retreat that morning due to extremely heavy fire) because a lot of the SS pulled out to go west. Kinda funny that the guys guarding Hitler's bunker were French volunteers.

Anyway quality, huh? My nazi collection is worth thousands of dollars, how much will that M43 be?

Grand-Lobster-King In reply to Luke27262 [2015-10-20 15:47:08 +0000 UTC]

Well yeah but Soviet WWII stuff was all sent back to the government and worn down until they were all thrown away. Now all soviet collectors have are medals and pins, everything else is in the dumpster. German uniforms are still around in good numbers, and American uniforms are still sitting in grandpa's closet or army footlockers in the attic around the country.
