Description
Commission drawn and colored by
Name: Buck Henry
Archetype: Grizzled Sergeant
Backstory: You grew up in upstate New York and worked with your father in the same slaughterhouse, killing and cleaning chickens. It was hard and messy work, but it came in handy when you joined the Army; as you weren’t squeamish at the sight of blood. You volunteered because you were bored and tired of feeling stuck in your hometown (which wasn’t too friendly to the negro man, except when they needed them to do jobs they considered beneath them). You rolled your eyes at the slogan of “making the world safe for democracy” and resent the fact that your unit, the 369th Infantry Regiment, wasn’t allowed to join the other New York units on parade when they marched through the city.
When you got to France, the US Army had you and your comrades work as laborers which you didn’t initially mind. You earned your promotion to NCO given that you were the man the other soldiers turned to for leadership. Then you realized that all the glory, prestige, best pay, and best rations when to the fighting men. Luckily, your unit is heading to Western Front- but under French command. You’re a harsh disciplinarian and prone to meanness, but the men under your command know that you’ve always looked out for them. And you never given up, no matter the odds or even if you’re wrong.
