Description ~Bon-AppetEats made a cuute tutorial for rice krispie polymer clay treats ([link] ), and since it's something I've been wanting to make for a long time (it's one of my favorite sweets!) I was inspired by her creation and set out to develop my own method! I tried this out on Livestream last night, and a few people expressed interest in seeing my method outlined in a tutorial as well. So after asking ~Bon-AppetEats if she'd be alright as being listed as inspiration, I made this tutorial this morning.

I debated adding in the bit about trimming the edges since it can be hard/dangerous, but I trust you guys not to hurt yourselves. xD And I think it's an important part in getting these to look real! So I hope you learn something.

I made earrings based off my method, and I should have those up soon. Thanks for reading, as always! If you make anything based off one of my tutorials, be sure to show me! And check out my gallery for many more tutorials.

Ssssooo. The square block in the inside. You could do it from some leftover scrap colors you had, since it wont be visible?

Hmm ... I would say no in this instance. If you look closely at the charm there's still areas where the inside block shows through. Since the "krispie" shapes aren't going to be able to fully coat the surface in one coat due to their odd shape, I highly suggest you either use the same color, or a very similar color.

True.. But how abooout making the block, a slightly smaller, of some scrap color and making a thin layer of the actual krispie color? Saves at least a little of the good color and good use of the old scrap clay?

That would probably be a good method.

You could actually use Jewlery Gold Sculpey, it is the same color but you don't have to do any mixing.

You need to do translucent clay in this for realism. Also jewelry gold has shimmery mica in it so you'd have glittery rice krispies. Which is fine if that's what you want! But jewelry gold is definitely not the same thing. O:

Yes true, it is glittery but it worked out fine!

Mmm I've always wanted to make one of these (both real and clay XD). the baking of the grains before adding is a nice touch, I would have put them raw but I think your way will work better. c:

i don't do clay art of any kind unless i need to make something extra small for my plush dolls but this is really clever!

i mean, your examples look more edible than the rice crispy treats i attempted to make last weekend.... nearly burned the mallow to the pot!

i stirred the melting marshmallow that my arm was sore afterward. perhaps that is a sign...? XD
