Man, I wasn't even going to draw anything else for this story until reacted as strongly as he did to my pic of Firewall . Oh, by the way:SCREW CAPTAIN STORM WING.
I've been wanting to say that ever since I started drawing this. I wasn't sure I'd have a reason to, but luckily I did.
His armor was hard as heck to draw. I had to redo it several times before I was happy with it. It didn't help that every single piece of art people have drawn of Storm Wing left out details mentioned in the story, like the red trim (seriously, it's right there in the text, but I saw no other art that included it! None!) and the star badge.
One thing I was hard set on doing was following the text as close as seemed fair. I made sure to include every detail in his first description, and some others that I could infer, like his cutie mark being covered (Firewall first sees it only after Storm Wing removes his armor for the first time, plus the fact that his armor is supposed to be similar to the normal pegasus guards, whose armor covers their cutie marks). I think the only detail I didn't include was about his hair being braided into his armor, because I couldn't think how to draw it. His hair does stay connected to his armor until the right point, however, so I didn't get it completely wrong!
Ah well, despite the trouble, I'm glad I drew it.
Edit: Fixed the shine on one of his hoof-pieces! Whoops!

Sweet! I hadn't seen this before! I like his colors and the red trim on his armor. I'll be giving Cap'n Jackpony his voice for the audiobook project, and this is some good inspiration.

I'll believe it when my biggest critic, my own damn self, starts telling me the same thing, but so as to avoid coming across as a jerk who can't take a compliment, thanks. I'm actually very proud of the way this and its counterpart, the one of firewall, came out.

p.s.: Have you looked at the two pics side by side? They look awesome together! The colors balance and compliment eachother perfectly! I honestly wasn't even going for that, so I surprised myself!
