Ninxi and her new mate, Koua, curl up together in their cozy hollow tree nest as early afternoon sun streams in from above.
Ninxi is an unusual winged cat who lives at the edge of a swamp in a large, old tree with several holes in it. She lines her tree den with the softest swamp grass she can find. At night, her lighter areas can glow light greenish. Ninxi feeds mostly on fish that she plucks out of the water like a hawk.

Ninxi used to live alone and felt profoundly lonely. She met Koua when she found him trying to pick his way through the hazardous southern part of the swamp. She helped guide him towards safer ground and it turned out he was just a drifting young tom looking for a place to settle. He was interested in finding out more about hunting for swamp prey so he ended up staying for a while. They became friends and eventually mates. Now they are both very happy.
