Description Medicae Sands, a master chirurgeon and Interrogator in service to the Holy Ordos

This is a painting a did the other day as a bit of an experiment while getting my next commission squared away. I've been slower then i should be with the digital paintings as of late, so when a few hours presented themselves, I figured I shouldn't waist them and try some speedier techniques. My goal was to complete a painting (hell or high water) in one day of work and this is what came of that day.

I've simply been getting too caught up in extraneous detail (as usual) and was hoping that i could find a way to break my self out of that mind set (again) and refresh my approach to my paintings. I believe I have succeed (for now... gotta remember to repeat this exercise every so oftin).

Painter X and approximately 14 hrs.

This was an insta-fave.
The character reminds me of the Medic from TF2, I love it
Why is this not a print yet?!?!

Thank you for that! I never really noticed that, but now that you mention it, it's plain as day. Perhaps I had the cover for the movie in the back of the ol' brain while putting it together. Herbert West, 40k style XD

ya, not enough head tubing, I'd agree. I'll have to make a newer version with far more pipes in the head and possibly some of those fashionable nipple tubes!

I started using air the air brush tools in this one to help with smoothing some areas out. I guess it worked, at least for is head, though that did happen to end up being my primary focus and took nearly a third of the overall time alone

I agree. I'm far too prone to loosing my self in the forest of detail that I forget to just enjoy a piece for what it is and what it does without worrying about what it will become. Exercises like this help remind me of that... just have to remember...
