Hide and Seek

To be honest, I've gotten in a design rut; it seems that I keep on going back to the same old thing. Thus, I tried to do something I wouldn't usually do and mess around with the silhouette and overlap shapes. Surprisingly, it looks pretty cool.

The idea behind this was inspired by the asymmetrical curves of my torso (because of the way my spine is twisted). I've never heard of anyone designing for people with scoliosis/kyphosis before. It's a simple fact of life that clothes are designed for symmetrical people. The rest of us just have to deal with it. So I took something I like in clothes - ruffles - and tried to portray this.

The design "Hide" would literally hide one of my sides, fooling anyone who doesn't know me into thinking that the hidden side is symmetrical to the shown one. But I've never been one to sit there and take things...I'm fairly bold and in-your-face. I used to hide beneath my clothes but I decided that, if I ever want to be a designer, I can't sit there and be ashamed of the twisted body I have. So "Seek" is an "I don't care" statement of sorts. I wanted the leg to be almost like a pant leg on one side, bursting into a dress on the other, reflecting the fact that both sides of me are not the same, but can still be beautiful.

Another color scheme of these designs would be in soft peaches and pinks.

wonderfully done my friend, and i admire the way you explained about your body and that you have accepted it. i too have a curved spine, and i have avoided certain clothes to wear all my life. i love ruffles and i love the straps too, would look cool in black!!!!

well thought out!
We find that hoodies and wide collars are useful, also (surprisingly) muscleback style tops, especially with lace sleeves/layers are good too (hides the curve/s quite well so long as it's not too severe)
