Description More Kýrdan weapons now...here we have an ornate arcblade (and its scabbard,) an even more ornate shield, and a Kýrdan carbine, which is a type of energy projectile weapon. I'll describe each weapon next!

Arcblade

The signature weapon of the Kýrdan knights and warriors, the arcblade is an ultrasonic-type cutting weapon, which oscillates rapidly to cut through almost anything. Sort of like the vibroblade weapons from Star Wars, or the "progressive knife" carried by Eva units in Neon Genesis Evangelion.

When activated, a mysterious sort of technology creates an arc wave which oscillates rapidly, making the blade appear as a blur. An added effect from the arc-wave is that the blade gives off its own light, usually a silver-white color, as if the blade were reflecting a bright light.

The weapon is generally activated by the user's Ilúric energy field, the user's life force channeling into the weapon's arc generator. Most arcblades work this way, and as such it is difficult for non-Kýrdan to use properly (although the blade itself is still razor-sharp.) Other arcblades feature a small power pack usually built into the pommel, that powers the arc wave effect. These are used both by Kýrdan and neo-Kýrdan.

The wing pattern on the handguard section of the sword symbolizes the six-winged goddess Valanbé, and the Kýrdan devotion to her as their fair lady.

Carbine

Replacing the legendary cross-shot, the Kýrdan Carbine is a more modern weapon (well, modern by Kýrdan standards...to Earth standards the weapon resembles a 17th or 18th-century firearm, though decidedly alien in design.) The carbine fires incendiary, explosive rounds encased in glowing, blue-green plasma, that increases the penetrative power of the shot. This makes it an energy projectile weapon, or EPW.

It is customary for Kýrdan high priests to "bless" each round before it is used, imbuing the shot with different Ilúric "spells," thought to make each shot more deadly. Whether or not this does anything is negligible, but it's a beautiful tradition.

I wanted the Kýrdan to have their own unique firearm that symbolizes their culture and way of fighting. You might think I based the weapon on the "Covenant Carbine" from the Halo games, and yes I did. It also functions similarly to a Wookiee bowcaster, in that the shots are encased in a plasma jacket. The bowcasters in Star Wars Episode III were even green, making them even more similar to Kýrdan shots!

Shield

The Kýrdan shield is made of a lightweight metal and wood composite, then coated with a nigh-indestructible crystal compound. This compound can absorb or reflect shots from directed energy weapons, or absorb the kinetic force of projectile weapons. Despite its medieval appearance, it offers quite a bit of protection.

On the shield you can see the Kýrdan rose pattern (based on the Tudor rose from medieval England,) and a stylized Valanbé drawn in gold and white. The color scheme (dark blue or teal, white and gold) signifies that this shield belongs to one of the Knights of the White Maiden, an elite society of Kýrdan knights who primarily worship Valanbé, unlike regular Kýrdan who worship many gods and goddesses including Valanbé, but hold the life force of Ilúr to be most sacred.

Now the scabbard of the arcblade as well as the green gem on the guard should both be dark blue to match the shield...I drew the sword and scabbard before I started to draw/color the shield, so it's an honest mistake. I still think it looks awesome!

I intend to draw a Knight of the White Maiden sooner or later. The Knights actually originated as a customized Eldar army on Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War, almost a year ago. I called them the "White Knights of Valanbé" and gave them a white, gold and teal color scheme. Me and Coby used to play that game together a lot...ahh, good times.

Thanks, yeah I'm very proud of the sword! I think it's one of the more attractive weapons I've drawn as of late. Though personally, I'm most proud of the shield, and the graphics on it.

The carbine is cool looking.
I must admit though that I thought that the sword and shield were Legend of Zelda type weapons, like maybe fan made weapons?
Then I read the descriptions and I saw I was mistaken. Still, they look cool.

Well Legend of Zelda was a big influence in my art, along with Lord of the Rings, Star Wars and Halo. So I guess it fits

Glad you read the description too, not many people read my descriptions, maybe because they're tl;dr or something. People have such short attention spans sometimes!

I love reading so unless its like something that doesn't interest me, say history class, I will almost always read it.
