Description
The artist’s work is rescuing the craft of a Victorian technique on the verge of extinction, Glass Gilding, and serves as a foundation and platform for his creative search for a visual language and transcription of Pop Art, based on major milestones in art history as an exquisite source of inspiration, and in this case the Art Nouveau and Victorian book covers for Jules Verne´s titles were just that when I was a child. At home we had the complete collection of his work and I read them several times as a fantastic escape in those rainy winters, when cable TV had not yet arrived to distract and reading was a great exercise in visualization and creativity. This series brings the classic feel of Glass Gilding to the forefront with the covers of the first edition of these books in the late 1800’s. A small tribute to the technique that is changing my life today.
