Description We won't be seeing the rest of the herd Alk belongs to because they usually conjure up as wind, but they still have history and I want to take a couple of passes at their colors. I'm not satisfied with these, but I'll come back to it later.

Since they're magic horses that came out of a pond, I didn't worry too hard about whether or not these variants would have been around in ancient Europe (I did a little but not too much). I'm almost sure that they were but since I don't know anything about genetics and I'm a slow learner when it comes to history, I'm not gonna go out on a limb.

Rory's village really seemed to favor spots! (Again, don't know if that would have been true, but the Buiud are a fictional tribe being influenced by a god in a spring who bargained with them to do things its way. It may be more like it had a preference for spots.)

The people and animals take their names from the god, Bui.

Buirihh- the horses
Cubuin- the dogs
Buiud- the people

Each of these horses potentially had a rider. I call them ghost horses because they were most likely killed by the Cubuin (who stayed loyal to Bui) when shit hit the fan. The loyalty of the Buirihh had shifted to the tribe, and later to Gale.

Since they come out a pond that's also used as a place to dump ritual offerings, I thought it would be cool if they were made of mud and had some of those offerings sticking out of them, but that's something to explore later.

The dun, bay, apaloosa pattern (leopard) are shown in prehistoric cave painting so... I bet those colors were there in ancient times, like strips in the legs or in the shoulder. If you want lo reed some studies or look at links for those cave paintings, I have several links of them in the commen of this picture:
Feel free to look at them if you want to investigate.

Thank you! c: I'm so glad leopard horses are represented in prehistoric art. They might be my favorite coat pattern.

I really like how you have the little horses moving around, makes the whole thing feel more lively! And the lore behind them is very interesting, with a god who likely favored spotted horses
