Description You whisper the outlines, my dear, but give me more, I beg. The mystery of suggestion snatches me up, I wait, I observe, I desire, but I am given just a guess.

Doesn't it. Preserving mystery is so attractive...

Simple, elegant and beautiful! I really like this concept of having a black silhouette on a black background and only showing a backlit outline.

I know that technical perfection is not the most important goal for you as far as photography is concerned, but I do think that once you’ve upgraded to a D-SLR (which will be better capable of handling such difficult lighting circumstances), you really should consider shooting a new version of this. Combine this concept with a really good image quality, and you could end up with a truly stunning photograph.

Guess what ??
They've been waiting for over a month in my message center, patiently, and FINALLY I get to answer (I can't pretend I haven't had time to ponder over them) !

So thank you for the comment, the truth is, this shot was a total mistake, I didn't know what I was taking, I didn't think this would be the result, and it only became like this after much cropping and contrast adjusting. But then I loved it in the end, it seemed so mysterious, and yet it was a self portrait, that was grand. So I know it isn't technically worth much, but it has emotion for me... And also I'm a bit scared of not being able to get the same result another time.

"this shot was a total mistake" I would call it a lucky shot.

"I'm a bit scared of not being able to get the same result another time." Well, don't be. You know, once you got the hang of the basics of that 400D, you can try to work towards the results that you want, instead of pushing a button on your current compact cam and simply hoping for a good outcome.

If you decide to give it another go, you'll probably have to switch the camera into manual mode and take a couple of shots with a range of faster shutter speeds (in combination with the same aperture (=F-number) and ISO settings) than the camera is asking for. If you use the automatic mode, you'll probably end up with an overexposed picture. Unless, of course, the 400D is so incredibly smart that it instantly knows what you're trying to achieve. (And maybe it is, who knows! )

It is a tricky shot and it will take some experimenting with both camera and backlighting, but I'm sure you'll manage to get a nice one.

I know exactly what you mean. I'll need to get back in the mood, though... Or find someone to pose for me
Did you ever take a self-portrait ? It's harder than I thought...

No, but I can imagine that it could get quite frustrating, as you can't really see what you're doing.

I'm very honored that you should choose this one from my gallery to comment, because it happens to be one of my personal favourites (and also a self portrait )

Totally love the lines in this. It's so mysterious, and yet, tempting somehow ....
Great choice of title, too.

Thank you
I know there's a lot of grain, that's because I added in lots of contrasts to erase every detail of the face... Unfortunately I don't think there's much I can do about it.
