Hey everyone, Its Jaron here. So recently I was working on a picture but it just wasn't turning out the way I wanted it to because of the shadows looking really weird. So I decided to revisit some of the painting courses I watched when I was first learning and brush up on some old and new techniques. And this is the results and I can honestly say that I'm really happy with how it turned out. Sure the bow and the wings and the brush aren't done but I was mostly working on shadows and stuff like that.
But I want to know what you guys think. Do you like the new style? Let me know in the comments.

I'll give you credit where it's due by saying you did a good job on the shading and coloring, I am not so keen on the aesthetics where the bow and super shiny eyeshadow are concerned, it's nothing against you, its just I cannot see Twilight being like this (maybe I could see little Twily putting on a pretty bow and trying to make herself look like mommy, but adult Twi... not so much).

Yeah the basic story behind the concept was I was just sketching trying to figure something out to draw and I ended up with this and then pretty much had the same thought you did, The thought of "putting on makeup and stuff like that is more of Rarity's thing at least when it comes to just doing it on impulse" but then I had a thought for another picture which will be coming soon inspired by this but when it came to practicing and getting used to doing better shadows I needed something to color in quick so I used this sketch.
Got to admit though bows are a part of pony fashion and does look pretty cute.

I think it might be because DA insists on people to actually (looks both ways before whispering) thinking when they make a critique. snark aside, I agree that bows can be pretty cute, I do feel your pain, when I do get responses on my work it tends to fall into one of two camps: the "OMG SO KYOOT!!!" camp and the "I am a graduate from a highly lauded art college so let me give you an annotated bullet-point list on what you did wrong" camp. I would not deny that I could probably improve on my ability to take criticism, but sometimes the wording just rubs me the wrong way, even if the person doesn't mean it like that.
