It's definitely hard to keep them in focus. I was standing in the garden bed with them, and thankfully they were more interested in eating than in me lol But they were fast little guys!

Aw thank you hon I love the colours too, I just wish I was able to catch him in focus better. It's so hard with the shallow depth of field, and him moving so quickly. But it's all practice and a learning curve! Next time I'll do better I hope

Beautiful colours and DoF.

It's a shame the insect's eyes aren't in focus but to be honest - I think the picture's great as it is.

GreenEyedHarpy In reply to philemerson [2008-05-19 05:17:45 +0000 UTC]

Thank you! And yes I'd prefer him to be entirely in focus too lol but they are very fast, and I'm working with extremely shallow depth of field! I'm so glad you like it anyway

Ooooo like the colors and of course the macro is really good! I don't see how some people can be afraid of bees, they are so useful!

Thank you very much! And I have to say, I'm not a big fan of bees lol but since I've been photographing them I have a whole new appreciation. And I saw this amazing documentary on them the other day...apparently they are in serious danger of being wiped out, which would be catastrophic for agriculture....just fascinating.

louiecablouie In reply to GreenEyedHarpy [2008-05-17 00:16:25 +0000 UTC]

Yes I have heard about that too. I like bees actually, because they don't bother me at all. Yes when you take pictures of things you realize what they truly are. I agree, that is fascinating.

That bee is so adorable! I love the fuzzy ones. I was afraid of bees for a very long time, but I've been able to appreciate them during the past couple of years. I even went so far as to lightly touch one once. They're so cute that I want to squeeze them! I wish they were larger and more loving!

This particular bee looks like he's leaning over the center of the flower as if it were a rock. It seems he's trying to look under it out of curiosity. "Where be the pollen?!" Hehe.

I love the colours. Oranges and purples go well together. I like the pieces of flower sticking up on the left side of the bee. They're in focus and have nice textures.

I think this is very beautiful. I quite enjoyed looking at it and letting my imagination run wild. Thank you for sharing it!

Thank you I'm really glad you enjoyed it! And I know what you mean, bumble bees like this are so furry and cute, you just want to keep them as pets lol
