The Rainbow Lorikeet, Trichoglossus haematodus is a species of Australasian parrot found in Australia, eastern Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, New Caledonia, Solomon Islands and Vanuatu. In Australia, it is common along the eastern seaboard, from Queensland to South Australia and northwest Tasmania. Its habitat is rainforest, coastal bush and woodland areas.

As with most parrots, these guys have incredibly strong personalities. They are such characters, very cheeky - and can be kept as pets (from licensed breeders/sellers) and I have definitely been tempted, but then I remember how LOUD they are! Very cute, but better from a distance! haha

Thanks hun! So glad you approve I used the flash for this one, that's why it's so crisp. I normally hate using flash, there's no subtlety to it, but I guess it worked out this time!

ZenAkita In reply to GreenEyedHarpy [2008-08-26 23:13:40 +0000 UTC]

WORKED PERFECT! Its perfect capture!

I use the flash alot on my canon 40D. I always adjust the amount of flash it puts out. I find even during the day and outside the flash fills in some shadows that really add to the shot.

But at the end of the day thats why digital is great, I look and then adjust

Cheers! And yes, it's the immediate response of digital that's so great!

Pretty feathers. Is that another variant of the parrot (could it be a macaw)?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

GreenEyedHarpy In reply to Poila-Invictiwerks [2008-07-07 08:49:32 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, not it's a lorikeet, it's very different to a macaw. Much smaller for a start. You can read about them here if you're interested: [link]
