It's been 3000 years...

So yeah, uh, the last pony piece I uploaded was in October 2016.

I never intended it to be the last one - in fact, I had several ideas and works in progress left - but none of them came to fruition. Throughout 2017, I worked on... maybe 3 MLP pics, but ended up abandoning them. And since my interest had dwindled somewhat, I just kind of stopped drawing ponies. And it seemed like that would be that.

It's not like I stopped drawing them altogether, though... I drew a few ponies in Don't Break the Chain , and last year I did this page of doodles but never uploaded it:

There weren't any proper full-on finished drawings, though... until now. Yes, I've occasionally gotten the urge to draw an anthro Discord, but the urge has always gone away before I can get around to it. But after Purple Flowers gave me such fun times with limited palettes, I've been clicking the random button on colormind.io again, and saving any palettes that catch my eye. This time, I was inspired by two palettes.

At first, I was going to use one or the other, but when I started work I remembered that Discord has like 20+ colours, so trying to portray him with 5 would be a fool's errand unless I wanted to go super-limited. So I used both, and crossed off one colour from each, so this pic used 8 colours in the end. In the end, I like how this turned out. I like my headcanon for anthro Discord as wearing what might once have been a nice suit, but is now a bit of a tattered mess. It was interesting trying to depict the worn and scuffed clothing, as well as the folds in the material. The hands were very annoying (I had a bit of trouble getting the balance between human and bird right on his talon hand), but his face was fun to draw. I like how it turned out, but maybe the perspective is a bit skewy. And I think I did a good job picking out the colours, too. Maybe I could have figured out something more interesting to do with the background, but what's important is that it's finished now.

Man, I know that probably nobody else will care about it, but it's pretty exciting for me to finally come back to MLP. Maybe at some point I'll get around to catching up on... uh... O_O

...Seasons 5-9. Oof. Maybe I can figure out a highlights run somehow.
