Description
Another one of my smaller, quicker drawings, this one is of East Point Lighthouse. Located at the mouth of the Maurice River at the Delaware Bay in southern New Jersey, East Point Lighthouse was built in 1849 and stands 40 feet tall. Automated in 1911 and deactivated in 1941, the lighthouse has fallen into disrepair several times in its history and was victim of a severe fire in 1971. In 1980 the Coast Guard reinstated the light and has gone under several restoration projects. The lighthouse is now on the National Register of Historic Places and is open monthly for tours.
