YES! Aah, perhaps not - this girl, Anne-Sofie, is not one of my friends - I was just shooting her.

What exactly is her hair color?

GretaTu In reply to surgeonprincess [2011-07-21 09:49:07 +0000 UTC]

Dark brown. It looks kind of red here, though. But the light is very warm. (;

Yeah. Now is that filter or is that natural light?

GretaTu In reply to surgeonprincess [2011-07-23 08:04:32 +0000 UTC]

It's natural light which I made stronger/more contrasted in Photoshop.

That's a quality I certainly like about your work. How it's fairly difficult to tell what you've edited. That or you just edit very lightly. Not that I'd know but both seem to be good traits.

Thank you! I'm glad to know. And yes, overediting can really ruin a great pic.

Yeah. How long have you been editing? You really know your way around it.

Hmm.. I actually don't really know, but for a good amount of time! I edit in Photoshop, which I started experimenting with perhaps three years ago or so. Since then I've learned by doing. I've never taken any courses or something like that, but just used it a lot and tried out many different things!

That's probably the best approach to something like that. Yeah your edits are subtle, which I like. Can I ask how much you typically do in terms of lighting? Most of your lighting seems natural. Again, not that I've a ton of experience or anything. :/

Almost all of my older photos are shot in a studio only with artificial light, for example: [link] and [link] Now shooting a lot on locations, so I primarily use natural light - sometimes though I bring lamps, too.

But then I feel like some material you do works well in studio lighting. Although I feel your newer stuff works stylistically better outside. You do seem to be stepping outside a lot. I do like your studio lighted stuff though. :/

Thank you. I just don't feel inspired to work inside a studio in the summertime at all. I haven't done it for many months. Just felt like it was the same I was doing, just with different girls..

Hm. I guess I can see that. But I guess professionally I feel like that might be part of the agenda. Just shooting the same stuff for fashion catalogs and whatnot. But hey, while it is summer I'm glad you're working outside and exploring cool territory.
