I don't usually associate the hat and the fabric on his torso with the aged look and the hole in the earlobe. Those seem more ancient to me and so for lack of better words I said "modern clothes". I don't know if it explains it any better.

Sometimes pictures conjure feelings and images that I just can't find the words for and this is one of them. It also makes me feel like I could reach out and shake his hand and very much enjoy his company.

I understand.
The clothes are just a bit more modern than he probably is. But then, it is probably ony a fabrik drapped around himself, so there is no sewing work done on them.
Anyway, I found it nice to see everybody calling the ant a "fly".

I think the wings make you think of a fly unless you come from somewhere tropical and have seen the flying ants and termites. It was an interesting aspect of the picture.

It is. It makes it even more alive.
Okay, so most people think if it has fly-like wings it is a fly without having a closer look at the body? I wonder why, flying ants exist elsewhere as well!

That's why these pictures are so important. They expose people to things they don't know and hopefully make them more aware.
