If only the World Eaters never went heretic. If half the Blood Angels get to be berserkers then why can't we have a chapter of them? Just ain't fair.

It would have been difficult for the World Eaters to stay loyalist. They were the mostly obviously disloyal legion before the Heresy, and Angron was the only primarchΒ who openly hated the Emperor.
Not to mention that legion orthodoxy involved hammering excruciating pain engines into their skulls to deliberately turn the legionnaires into murderous psychotics.
More than anything else, it was probably a surprise that they waited for Horus before rebelling.
