Description Today's photo is of a Harris's hawk that was at the Huxley's Bird of Prey Centre in Horsham, West Sussex (www.flyingfalcons.co.uk ). The Harris's hawk is native to the extreme southern US, central and South America. This bird is notable for being group hunters, unlike solitary hunters that's the norm for birds of prey. They can also run fast on the ground to catch prey if needed. They're also a favourite for falconry, as they're noted for being quite intelligent, which makes it easier to train them.

Post Edit - I just found out the sad news that the owner of Huxley's Bird of Prey Centre, Julian Ford, recently died. I'd like to dedicate this picture in memory to him and his work.
