Description Beware the Tree Shadows! Their camouflage is perfect when pressed flat against a tree, but as soon as it's prey is turned, it will break away from the tree, and then....who knows.

it's great, like some kind of wicked dream
and the tree has an eye... Anyway, this shadow looks very nice, like asking 'heeeey, maybe you know what time is it, my friend?' I'm enchanted by this .)

Hehe, well I might have to look into this idea; I know of a shop in central London that does that. Hah, really?

Since seeing this I've been giving trees a wide berth at night!
It's beautifuly composed with a cunning mixture of fluid curves & jaggedy spikes - a Conjuration of the atmosphereof the mythical Wildwood. The menacingly scratchity hands of the Tree Shadow remind me of those of the swamp hag (Meg was it?) in the 'Legend' film. Flea seems quite unconcerened - is he aware of what's going on, or is he just playing it cool?
It looks somewhat like a linocut/woodcut print, although from your 'Devious Info' I gather that you work with pen & ink......whatever, it's brillant -

Thanks very so much for your insightful comment - it's nice to receive feedback like this. I'm really glad you like it, I certainly had fun drawing it! Hehe yeah, I think Flea's well aware of what's going on behind him; he's probably hoping the human gets it first. Oooo Legend - I always found that film very creepy, though Tim Curry just made me laugh. ;D But yeah, as gorgeous as trees are, I always imagine that they could see easily come alive and do a lot of damage (not that they'd automatically be evil!)

Thanks very much!

Re. the trees - if they went for people it wouldn't be so much a case of "evil" as "justified vengance" considering what humans have done to them over the centuries...an eeksome thought.
You laughed at Tim Curry's DemonKing !?!?!? I was hiding behind the sofa. "I AM THE LORRRRD OF DAAARKNESS. LIGHT IS MY DESTROYER" - Exellent stuff! What a voice, What a line - it sounds like the intro of some full-on hardcore Death Metal song probably by a band with a name like 'Fetid Bloodbath 666' or such

greyflea In reply to Ethereal-Mooncat [2005-09-09 17:56:03 +0000 UTC]

That's very true, trees deserve a bit of revenge.
Tim Curry in everything just makes me laugh - he's just so bizarre! He looks incredibly camp even as a demon king, I think. ;D I'm assuming you've seen the Rocky Horror Picture Show? I say no more.

Hehe, that's ok, it's nice to get a comment at any stage! Thanks - yeah, Flea seems completely oblivious in this one (or maybe it's all a trick, and he'll run away as soon as the human's captured ;D)

For some reason his head reminds me of Grievous' (there I go again, sorry) , but hey really like the Tree Shadows' design (the left hand looks like the Queen Alien's, two long fingers and the others short, brilliant stuff).
Heh there is Flea
Nice!

truds [2005-06-22 23:20:40 +0000 UTC]

That hole in the tree looks like a great big eye! Is what my eyes are drawn to everytime I look at it! And so that monster coming out of it is like another head/body or something, all joined together (starting to sound like a boss now!). Very cool, I really like this, nice level of detail mixed with the bold. I think the tutors would have quite liked all this y'know Flea is there once again

greyflea In reply to truds [2005-06-23 10:32:30 +0000 UTC]

Maybe it is an eye. Hah yes, this is all sounding a bit Castlevania now! *laughs* Oh don't say that, not now I've left uni! Thanks very much though, my dear schwester.

DeepOne [2005-06-20 09:34:45 +0000 UTC]

I really like this, the curve of the Tree Shadow as its pulling itself away from the tree, the tendrils still attatching it, and those claws look like they could, and indeed will, cause some serious damage! Haha, like the little mushrooms on the tree and - whats this?- is Flea someones pet?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

greyflea In reply to DeepOne [2005-06-20 17:13:05 +0000 UTC]

Ohno, Flea is no pet! Flea's one of those things that always ends up in photos - if there's a photo to be taken, he's there. Thanks very much Adam, I had a lot of fun on this one. (as I mentioned to someone earlier, I drew this while watching Rob Roy - dunno if Liam Neeson inspires me to draw monsters, or maybe it's just Scotland. Hah, my mum would kill me if she read this! )

DeepOne In reply to greyflea [2005-06-20 22:51:09 +0000 UTC]

So, you think Liam Neeson is monstrous? And you're into that? I dunno, it looks a bit like Flea is subservient to a human in this picture Haha, just cant get away from him!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

greyflea In reply to DeepOne [2005-06-20 23:27:17 +0000 UTC]

*Laughs* Quite the opposite! I think he's lovely. Nah, Flea just wants to sit there because he feels like it. The same way as cats just come into our houses cos they feel like it, not cos we 'own' them.
