Description
With Amtrak's recent abolishion of Steam Based Excursions former N&W J Class Northern #611 is currently still undergoing her repairs at our workshops at the NCTM in Spencer, North Carolina since the start of the Winter last year. There is still much work needed to be done on her but with this recent action from Amtrak its become likely that #611 will remain a resident of North Carolina Transportation Museum for quite awhile even when her repairs are finished. Hope fully they make enough room in the Roundhouse to keep her out of the elements and i think it be very befitting if she sat along side Atlantic Coast Line #1031, Seaboard Air line #544, and Southern #542, since they are the three biggest steam locomotives in the museum collection. Its most likely that she'll be put inside the large back shop along side one of her Diesel Locomotive Inheritors N&W GP7 #620 now painted in N&W Black. So from here on out, till the Roanoke Museum can figure something out, #611 is an honorary North Carolinian for the time being.
