Yep. Cant help it. I grew up watching the original series in reruns. Also influenced by Stargate series.

I think a lot of scifi everything is influenced by Star Trek, just don't indulge in the William Shatner school of over-emoting and we'll be fine.

No chance of that. I cant stand Shatner's over-emoting and his inane pauses in his speaking.  I have an office partner who seems to have taken a page from his book every time she speaks. LOL
