Name: Olivier
Personality:
Olivier is a pretty quiet jader and feels most at home along the edge of the seas. She’s a jader of great strength and is known for her integrity and thoughtfulness to those she cares about. Despite this she seems to always be lost in thought and likes to keep to herself. She often is heard mumbling to herself about her thoughts and she is thought to have consistent memory relapses and is always a bit confused as to what she thinks is her memories and what are her memories. Lani and Lumiere are often concerned for her especially when she asks them questions about things that never happened. But Olivier seems to be getting better at finding out what is “real” and what is “not” though she says she simply remembers and is better at understanding what is currently now and what happened “then.” No one is really sure what to make of this. Despite her overall awkwardness Olivier is rather pleasant to be about though is known for her starling gorgeous coat. It’s not uncommon for jaders to flirt with her though it is rare for her to reciprocate any flirtations.
Story:
She could hear the celebrations of her family below. Large and bustling as always in their mansion at the seaside. It was a beautiful mansion and the party decorations looked gorgeous. All of her siblings, with the exception of her rather wild and quiet sister G’Doura, were dressed for the occasion. Bowties and booties and even the occasional hat. Many people had been invited from all parts of the towns and cities. Some of them her mother’s friends and business partners others were friends of her father.
The party itself didn’t really interest Olivier like it did to her fellow littermates but she had been to many new years parties already and found that she preferred the sound of the crashing sea and the view of the setting sun to be enough. Though it was true she was just a few months old and her paws were still large and clumsy. She spent her days stumbling downhill and tripping as she ran up the slopes along the cliffside. She could barely trudge through the warm soft sands of their beach but she loved it anyways. But it was weird that she knew what she used to be able to do and when she tried to get herself to do it she could not because this body wasn’t that one.
For as long as Olivier was alive she could remember things. But not things that were currently happening to her she remembered things that happened long ago. To other people. Though as she had grown a bit Olivier was realizing those other people were her. Different versions of her that her soul once lived as. She wasn’t sure why she could do this. She simply could.
Some of her first memories that confused her were of the ocean (and maybe that was why it comforted her so). Olivier remembered things of the ocean but not swimming in it as she was now. No, she remembered going deep down where her current rather squishy, furred, and paw’d form could not. It was when she had lived skirting along the reef shores for food. During those days she had fins instead of a tail and paws, she had large black eyes not blue ones, and soft stripes but not ones that glowed like they do now. She had rough skin that was wet and not quite scaled and it was nothing like the soft plush fur she had now. She had rows of teeth sharp and jaws that were strong and wide for food.
It was dark down there in the ocean when she went deep as she liked to do then but she also loved to swim along the reefs. She remembered the cool ocean and how the sun sparkled and shimmered along the reef floor. The different shades of blue cascading along the sandy floor always brought her delight as she made her way around the ocean. She had been a powerful predator. During that life she remembered the fear of other animals fleeing before her shadow and freezing at the sight of her form swimming towards them. She was not mean then but she was simply a predator. A shark who lived to eat and swim that was her life and she was content. That is what Olivier remembered then. During those days she grew large and more dangerous always seeking out larger and larger food to stave the hunger she always felt.
One day her hunger had led her into a fight with a squid. Perhaps she had misjudged it’s size because she had delved deeper than she normally did. It’s tentacles large and black blended in so well with the dark vast ocean and she only saw the glimpses of blue highlight along them that glowed eerily. IT was that glowing she focused on when she struck. When she bit down and it didn’t quite fit she was rather surprised. She had rarely bit down on anything that didn’t quite fit. It was when she saw the tentacles break from the dark ocean bottom and expand around her did she realize that perhaps she had bitten more than she should have. When her own black eye met with it’s large blue one staring at her she knew that, yes, she had taken a bite much to big. This creature she had heard once upon a time from some other creatures they had said the humans called it “Kraken.”
She remember the first time in her life she had felt fear then as it wrapped it’s tentacles around her. She lost sight of it’s eye and the world blurred into nothing but black and that eerie blue that let her know the kraken had her in it’s hold completely. For once she was the one to be hunted. It was a primal fear she had never felt since. But the kraken was quick in it’s work of her she only vaguely remembered a sharp pain atop her head before the world as she knew it as her soul fled from the creatures grips when her body could not.
It was truly a fearsome sight but she saw the creature today walking along land with her and that creature was her elder sister. Ursula. She found it amusing how souls and lives worked that way. The first time she had remembered this life she had spent a few days trembling at the sight of Ursula but she realized Ursula no more remembered being the kraken then understanding that she had once killed her own sister. Though they were not sister’s then. Perhaps Olivier should be angry with her then but remembering the beauty of sunset’s cascading onto the ocean floor illuminating it with thousands of shards of colored light made her fond of them. So fond that finally, when she had told herself Ursula was no more the kraken. At least not in body (though in spirit and mind Ursula seemed to still be rather fearsome) she approached her sister shyly.
Her memories made her yearn for the ocean she could not see and she learned early on that Ursula had the magic to traverse the ocean however deeply she liked despite being a canine much like Olivier. So quietly and at a fair distance should the tentacle’s on Ursula’s fur decide to sprout forth once more she asked to go with Ursula into the great ocean. Their father wasn’t happy with the idea and Ursula was suspicious since Olivier had been quite pointed in her avoidance with her but agreed. When she went it was wonderful as she was able to once more chase fish along the reefs though she had paws instead of jaws and did not feel particularly hungry as she swam (though she ate quite a bit when she got out). Now every so often she asked her sister to take her to the depths of the oceans and realized that she could not hold Ursula responsible for what her past self had once done.
Those who were enemies in one life could be bound as sisters in another it seems.
There were other lives she remembered though not so well as when she was a shark. Olivier hoped as she grew so would what she remembered. But what she did remember was being a large hoofed beast that ran across grasslands. She remembered the comforting rumbling as they thundered across the lands. All of them were one amongst many a great herd that filled the lands with knickers and whinnies as they ran about free to do as they wished. She remembered watching the sun rise and fall for many season’s. She must have lived for many years as she remembered one day being so tired that she could not run any longer so she laid for a nap. She never did wake up from that nap but when she awakened again to her next life she was ready once more. But she could not nearly run as fast and long as she did during those days and her paws did not make the thundering rumbling sound that her herd had made across those great grasslands.
Other lives flitted across her mind but she could not quite grasp them yet. They were slippery giving her solid images before receding back into her mind. Perhaps she was not ready to see them yet? But of the many live she lived many were light and happy while others were dark and horrid. Some were sadly short while others were long and fruitful. That much she knew of them but other memories filled her lately and they concerned her the most.
These memories were filled with the battle cries of war and burning castles. She remembered people running by in fear. They fled outwards to anywhere but the castle. To safety. Some stayed to defend but they did not live long. She remembered those who wore crowns. Those who ruled the lands but the ones she remembered best were striped. They were a family that was known for being strong, prideful, and terribly kind. She remembered them because she worked for them and lived amongst them in their castle. But she did not work there very long before the castle burned.
She remembered the queen’s eyes. Kind yet stern. She remembered her crown a beautiful golden thing. Olivier also remembered the fear and desperation of the queen that night. The night of the attack. It was war and they knew it and she must protect her kingdom but that night where she failed as a queen she was determined to succeed as a mother. That was where Olivier had come in. She remembered the two little one’s both with stripes as stunning as their mother. They had been so tiny with large paws and bleary eyes from being woken in the night. They had no idea what was going on only that their mother had taken them from their beds and ushered them into a passageway. There were three ways out and the family would split into one of the three passageways. The queen would leave with the guard to fight in the castle. The youngest of the pups would go with another sworn servant. Olivier? SHe was tasked with the eldest. The child had deep purple eyes that shined with curiosity and confusion. Her stripes were soft and colored orange and tan which was odd compared to her families vibrant strips. She would no doubt be beautiful when she became an adult nonetheless.
As she took the young one her heart filled with a deep sorrow and dark and heavy guilt. She knew this child would have a hard long road ahead of her. She knew it because she had set out that night to betray the queen and sell off her child to a man who would take her to a land far away from them. Perhaps it was a small mercy she told herself. The child would not suffer the pain of watching her kingdom fall or die at the hands of the other royals trying to claim her throne she might have ruled. What would the child tell Olivier now if she told her who she was?
As the memory flitted away from her a voice snapped her from her thoughts.
“What are you doing out here all alone hm?” The woman’s voice was kind but there was a dark strength that laid underneath that kindness. If the woman had wanted she could turn her voice into a sharp and cold tool at her disposal but she would never speak to Olivier that way. Olivier turned to her, “i’m just looking at the sunset mother. I think it’s pretty.” She turned back to the ocean then getting up from laying down as her mother came from behind her. Despite her size her mom managed to be quiet in her steps almost like the predator her stripes resembled.
Her mom smiled and sat next to her. She was rather tall and strong. Her fur was soft yet Olivier could feel the strong muscles beneath them and when Olivier looked closely at her mother's fur she could see the scar’s etched onto her skin. Some were old from her youth and others were fresh. They were still scabbed over and seemed to be only days old but when Olivier asked she simply smiled and said that she tripped. But Olivier knew that those scratches were from the claws of another and that the divets along her shoulder were from a bite.
But she was strong and never showed any pain to them. Olivier was sure that it would take much more than whatever it was to take her mother down. Perhaps her mom had been a kraken in another life too? Maybe one that Olivier had not met. But Olivier knew with a small sense of sadness that she would never be told what happened to her and where the scars came from. Their mother hid much from them and it was why they stayed with their father in the mansion. Her mother visited but they did not often go with her into town and her mother’s friends all talked in riddles around them. Her siblings had been easily been fooled by their dismissals and short explanations but Olivier had lived many lives and knew what was a lie was when she heard it.
Despite all those lives Olivier knew that those she loved in this life now were not loved less nor more than those she had loved in those many lives before this one. A chill set in her bones as the ocean winds blew against their cliffside making a shiver run through her. Olivier shuffled so that she was pressed up against her mother seeking her warmth and comfort. As she pressed against her it felt weird to know how small Olivier was now and how big her mom was now. She had once been so small and confused yet not Olivier was the one small and confused. Her mom’s eyes were still a gorgeous purple and the confusion that once filled them had been replaced with a sharpness but deeper in them was also a warm kindness. Her fur was still a soft orange and tan with beautiful stripes running along it but Olivier had seen the looks of fear that it brought as they went out on the town with her for shopping trips.
Olivier was filled with one startling thought then, would her mother love her any less if she knew what Olivier had done to her in that past life? If she found out that her daughter had been a servant one time and had sold her to some man on a ship would she be angry? Would she hate her? She suddenly wanted to ask her but her throat grew tight and her mouth dry so instead she pressed against her mother harder. So she sat in silence against her mom as they watched the sunset. She wanted to be happy and healthy once more and she was thankful for her powers but right now she did not want to remember that life quite yet. She was thankful for her soul in remaining so strong amongst these lives and she hoped that it would remain strong for this one.

Name: Stride
Personality:
Stride is a friendly jader who has no memory of his parents. He was found by Procean a quite chill acting jader and was given a temporary stay until he could find a job and get a proper home. Stride appreciates a lot of things in the world, like his life and that he was given a chance to make friends instead of a family. Sometimes he overthinks a situation and just dwells with his thoughts for a while. He prefers not to get into fights and tries to settle problems down with a few jokes. He wants to one day be someone big in the world, but his main dream first is to find who his parents were. He isn't a jader to give up no matter the situation is. There will always be some sort of answer somewhere he believes. No matter if it's something good or bad. Stride also isn't one to get upset easily, this is because of Kori who is a party jader and loves to keep the cheerfulness with everyone. Kori has grown on Stride quite a lot to where he just shrugs off anything negatively. He is friends with Tyler who wishes to introduce Stride to his friends, but the big group kinds of scares him too much. He wants to keep his friendship circles between those he trusts and take it slow on making new friends.
Story:
The sun began to set in the ocean as the skys began to darken. Lights among the sea side town began to appear. each full of a family ready to celebrate the incoming New Year... Today was New Years Eve, a showa colored jader walked from the beach all alone. Unlike most jaders, she had a tail of a koi fish and frilled ears instead of canine-like ears. Iowa came from a family of hunters and those that sought strength and power. Although, this meant nothing to her, she was not a hunter nor looking to be a warrior. She wanted to make art of how she saw the world that was full of nature and beauty. No one in her family would understand how she felt, not even those she hung at her college that she was friends with... And so the lone jader continued her lonely walk upon the beach.
"Hey Tyler! Catch!" shouted a brown jader with blue markings which glowed. A crate of fireworks was tossed over to the poor unaware jader, Tyler who was a brown jader with pink and green markings. Tyler managed to watch it with his stomach and landed flat on his back into the sand.
"Ow...Give me a better heads up next time..." grumbled Tyler as he placed the crate carefully on the sand. He clearly was not amused at what had occurred while Stride grinned as if pretending nothing happened. Tyler began to shake the sand that was on his pelt off of him then noticed something. "Where's Kori and Procean with the rest of the fireworks?" He then began to look around at the beach, the two quite brightly blue jaders were no where to be seen.
"Who knows. They are running a bit late, we only got a hour or two before new years." Stride sighed as set up the firework set carefully.
"A-A-Achoo!" A sneeze came out of no where along with a small blue flame. The two brown jaders turned around and saw three blue jaders, all of them carrying fireworks. Sneeze was constantly sneezing out flames. "I don't like the cold..." Sneeze wheezed before sneezing again. Sneeze was a jader that Stride didn't like... mainly because he was really noisy in the winter time.
"You guys should get the fireworks off of him before he blows himself up." Tyler pointed out warily. "Also I thought sneeze didn't want to come since he's always sick this time of the year."
"I mean. Tyler's right, he's going to blow us all up before long." Stride laughed. "Not to be rude or anything Sneeze." Who of course replied with a sneeze.
"Oh. We made him come. It's his birthday after all tonight." Kori cheerfully said as he placed his his stash of fireworks down with the rest. "We don't want him home alone celebrating by himself after all like we usually do!"
"Don't worry, I'm sure he won't blow anything up on accidentally." the ocean pelt jader, Procean explained as he got the load of fireworks off the sneezing jader.
"If Sneeze did blow something up, we'd be in so much trouble." laughed Stride. Although at the same time he wasn't amused since Sneeze was the only jader who could put all of them in some community work if he did accidentally set up the fireworks. It could be worse they could all go in jail or set a building on fire! Or even the beach!... Wait how did that work? Stride shrugged the thought off. At least one of the few good thing about Sneeze was that he was literally a fireplace with his constant sneezing and flaming tail. Sneeze was unique to the rest of the group, he was a imperial jader which Stride also admired. He had magic that he could barely use though, but could also sustain his flaming tail without having it go out or even get water down. Stride knew he was a feral jader, not any magic, maybe not even special abilities that he knows of. Inside of him, he wished he could have imperial powers, maybe then he could explore the sea a bit more to find-
"What's that look on your face?" Procean asked as he walked up to him and placed down a package of fireworks that came from Sneeze. "Chillax would you, sneeze won't cause any harm." Well that was for Stride to believe whether or not Procean's statement was reassuring. They were dealing with a jader with a flame tail that could light things on fire if Sneeze couldn't control his cold.
The only reason reason he's here at this party of five is because of Procean who had explained to him a week before of how Kori wanted to host a small party of close friends but his friends were mainly him and Sneeze which wouldn't be a party at all. So Procean decided to invite Stride to the beach party, plus the two can agree doing a beach party was a fantastic idea. The beach made him more comfortable to chill around instead of being in the city where it was crowded and who knew, Sneeze could blow up a building which would be disastrous.
Stride began to think about where he came from and how Procean was out one day and found the jader confused by the ocean. Stride didn't remember much of his childhood, but something must have happened for him to end up here. He did want to celebrate the new years with family and relatives but he never knew who they were. He wanted to find out someone, anyone, aunt, uncle, cousin, just someone. He just wanted to know, did he really belong to the sea? He had no where really to start looking around. He shook the though off and began to finalize the fireworks that were ready to be set for the new years.
Time passed a, a full moon was up in the sky and stars twinkled in the sky and reflected into the sea. The beach was quiet, aside from Sneeze who was still sneezing constantly, but very few jaders were around. Strife sat alone by the edges of where the waves slid of the shore while Kori was poking fun at Sneeze and Tyler was checking to make sure that when shooting the rockets, they were safe. Procean came up to him and sat down in the sand in a bit of concern for his friend.
"It's almost time to shoot the fireworks up for the city and for us. Is something bothering you, you seem a bit worried about something."
"Well, I'm still wondering where I came from you know. The only reason I'm here is because you found me. Otherwise I wouldn't have anywhere to go or live. I love you guys, Kori, you, Sneeze, but I still want to know who my family was or just someone who knew them. You know?" Strife explained as he stared at the ocean. "I know that it has something to do with the ocean. Wait. Your a ocean jader aren't you? Have you ever lived in the ocean?"
"If my design isn't an ocean, I'd question what I'd be." Procean tried to make a joke and then went quiet for a moment. "I use to live in the ocean, then I met those two doofs over there and stuck to them like glue. I don't really plan to go back." Procean shrugged. "It wasn't too exciting and it was too boring to be alone. You know I'm quite a chill person, but I fit myself as Sneeze's and Kori's big brother or something. Those two will get into trouble if no one watches them."
"Haven't we noticed" laughed Stride about Kori and Sneeze. "But why don't you want to go back to the ocean? It was your home right? Don't you want to go back to your family."
"I don't have one." A serious tone came off of Procean which is rare of him to not be happy or monotone. Then his voice went to his normal self. "Most jaders these day don't know their parents. Most think that it is best not to think about it." Stride flattened his ears, surprised at Procean but at the same time he understood. Maybe for Procean, it was a lost cause to find his family. But for Stride, he wanted to know, it was his goal. Did he come from the ocean? He just wanted to make sure. Then Procean moved the topic along and added more information. "You know, if you could find a imperial or a feral like me who came from the sea. I'm sure there are other jaders who can fulfill you of what you are wishing for. Maybe go on a cruise ship one day and just look around. Some fish jaders tend to like to be around water or be in it. So maybe you'll be able to find one. I mean they are very noticeable. It's literally a jader with a fish tail, ears and sometimes frills. Sometimes they have mantaray wings, let your imagination go wild." Procean explained with a smile now.
Stride began thinking more about what fish type jader he could be. "Do you think my parents were fish jaders too? I mean look at my design, this isn't something you see unless it's Tyler. But Tyler is tiger jader, totally different from me. Maybe my parents had fins." Stride thought out loud this time. He was quiet excited about the thoughts of what he could be related to. Maybe even a tiger and fish jader to make up his design. Who knows for now.
Procean shrugged in amusement seeing that his friend was in a better mood. He kept a smile as he looked out to the ocean. "Maybe one day you'll find out who you belong to. Otherwise ask Sheriff Sahale. You know, the depressed looking jader that lives in the city I brought you too in the case there was a missing report. He did tell us to look out for a mafia group, he had said that most of their groups had stripes, but yet no one can figure out who the stripes belong to. For all we know they could also be why you were here on the beach and can't remember anything."
As Stride was going to respond, Kori ran up to the two. "Guys! Guys!" Kori shouted. "New Year's is in a minute, hurry up and get the fireworks ready!"
"Already?" gasped Strife as he stood up. It seems as if it was only a few minutes but in reality it was a hour. "Let's hurry Procean!" And with that everyone surrounded the fireworks and prepared them to launch, minus Sneeze who stayed away rubbing is poor sniffy nose. Soon the time struck 12 and the fireworks went up in the hair.
"Happy new year! Happy birthday Sneeze! " Kori shouted throwing confetti everywhere as Tyler and Stride launched the fireworks.
"Happy birthday my friend." Procean gave the sniffly jader a snuggle. Kori joined him. Stride smiled at the sight of the three blue jaders. Even though they aren't related to each other and their personalities don't even match to make them seem like friends, they are quite a happy bunch just to be there for each other. Stride admired them.
"Stride, stop daydreaming and help me fire these last ones!" Tyler teased over the blasts of another set of fireworks.
"I wasn't day dreaming!" Stride said with a smile as he loaded up the rest. With that the rest of the night, the fire works soon ended with a late night snack and some cake. There were laughter and happiness within the air.
"Hey, I want to take a walk ok? You guys head home, it's really late, look at the time!" Stride said pointing to their make shift clock with a drawn circle in the sand and a stick in the middle.
"We should be fine." Procean nodded.
"You know where to find me." Tyler then said waving. "I'm always at the university with Nick, Vienna, Coco and the gang!" With that everyone parted ways.
It had been a long day but Stride wanted to enjoy the night alone and in silence. Salt water could be smelled in the air as the sound of crickets could be heard. It was peaceful, nothing could ruin it. "One day, I'll find who you were Mom and Dad. That's my goal. I won't stop until I know!" Stride shouted then noticed someone watching him. He turned to his left and saw a white and black jader sitting on the wall ledge by the city. A sudden realization came to him, the mysterious jader had a tail of a fish and her ears weren't of jaders. Her red eyes shined in the night, the shade, matching her clothing.
"U-Uh Hi there!" Stride called out. He never thought he would see a ocean jader out here. Although, the stranger didn't answer but shift her gaze back into the sea. Why isn't she talking? He wondered. "Why are you out here so late at night?" He then asked to try to get her to talk or say something out of curiosity. He began walking up to her and towards the stairs. There was still no response. "Is something wrong? Are you hurt?" he was now worried in the case either he upsetted her or just that he didn't realize something. A breeze could be felt as if ruffled their fur. with that, she finally looked at him.
"My name is Iowa." She said. For a moment Stride thought about the name, it sounded familiar.
"Oh! Aren't you one of Tyler's friends?" He asked. "You go to the university he's at right?" He sat down next to her.
"Yeah." She was a quiet type of jader it seems.
"Do you live around here?" Stride asked as he cocked his head to one side.
"Maybe." Was all she said as she looked back out the sea. Looks like speaking to her about anything will be challenging. All he wanted to do is learn more about her and get her to work with him to find out about his parents.
"What are you doing up so late out here? It's cold and stuff." Stride asked a different question.
"It's better than being home." Iowa explained.
"Do you live out in the ocean?" He then asked. "Is that your home?"
"No. My mother is a dire wolf hybrid. My father, maybe. He's koi jader." With that, this caught Stride's attention?
"Your father was a fish jader?" He gasped.
"Koi jader." She corrected him but didn't know what to call him.
"Oh! Uh, my name is Stride, I never told you did I?" He said embarrassingly when he realized. All she did was shook her head. "Sorry about that. I wanted to as you a question. I wanted to know if you knew my family. If it was possible that I could be related to someone out in the ocean." Stride sighed as he laid his head in his paws. Iowa then looked at him but he didn't notice. He was close, but even though he could find someone else, this made him feel disappointed.
"Your colors remind me of my great great grandfather. Lumi. You glow like my mother and him." She said. With that he perked up. "My grandmother doesn't know much about about my father Hati, since she adopted my mother from him. But she would explain who my mother reminded her of, Hati was the name. Hati is a dire wolf, but she was also related to a fish jader. If that is what you wanted to know. Lumi. I don't know much about who he was. But. Your colors are really close to his. Aside from the brown." Iowa said.
"If I'm related to Lumi, wouldn't that mean I'm your cousin or nephew.. or just related?" Stride gasped.
"If you are related to him." She pointed out.
"Uh, enough about me. Why aren't you with your family? Shouldn't you be enjoying new year with them?" Stride asked, now that he had an idea of who to look for, he was concerned about what Iowa was up to.
"I don't want to be with my family. All they do is fight with each other. My mother, Ice-Ceel fights with my uncle, Necro-Plazam. My family are hunters and are very territorial, we live in the outskirts of the city. We hunt for animals of sorts that obviously aren't jaders of any kind. Each new year all they want to do is just see who's better and not just enjoy just being together. My cousin Percy asked if I just wanted to to the theater to watch some opera with his boyfriend. But opera isn't my kind of thing... Blaze and my half sibling, Nigel decided to go sneak off somewhere, so I decided to follow their option and sneak out too.
"Oh... I'm sorry Iowa." Stride said. He didn't know that sometimes having a family to celebrate the new years could just be a disaster. He always thought it was a happy thing. Then he thought of the others. Maybe the reason why everyone came to the party, Sneeze, Procean, Tyler and Kori was because they didn't want to be with their families? Procean didn't seem too happy to really talk about his family anyways, whether or not he knew them. "What do you like to do on New Years?" Stride then asked.
"I want to watch and listen to the ocean." Iowa said.
"Wait. I love that too!" Gasped Stride.
"You like the ocean?" Iowa seemed confused.
"Maybe we are alike you know. If you want, I can introduce you to the B-Team and Tyler. They are good pals of mine and we just had a party for new years and to celebrate Sneeze's birthday since he was born on New Years." Then an idea came to his mind. "Procean loves the sea too like us. Maybe we all can enjoy next year's new year... well er, this year's new year I mean.. orrrr???" He was quite confused of how to state the next time they celebrate new years... then again he was really tired.
"Are you sure?" Iowa seemed shocked honestly at the request.
"Yes I'm sure! We are all a bunch of misbits within the group, so don't worry! You'll fit right in!" Stride smiled. "I mean, if you want to. I'm not forcing you." He placed a paw out for her. Iowa looked at it and looked back in. "If we are related to each other, it will give you a chance to at least be with some family." Iowa seemed to hesitate at the idea, but she soon smiled and placed her paw on his.
"I'm willing to try." She nodded.
"Really?" Stride placed his ears down in worry she may not be comfortable.
"Really." She said as she stood up. "Let's walk together on the beach and enjoy the rest of the night." And so Stride stood up and followed her as the waves splashed the beach and the moon shined bright. All was silent otherwise as the city fell asleep...

Name: Kalei, short for "Kaleidoscope"
Personality:
Kalei, from birth, was a very independent and domineering jader, he always had to be the "leader of the pack" or he refused to participate at all. His way or the highway, as some would say. When push came to shove, he was the one shoving and biting to boot, and his bite is definitely worse than his bark and his bark is pretty terrifying as is. He does eventually grow out of his aggression phase and mellow out a little as he got older, not constantly terrorizing everyone around him. Kalei still has a no nonsense vibe about him, and gets easily annoyed, but his temper has toned down significantly. He does, on some occasions, get a unexpected playfulness about him but that is usually only towards his owner and his family.
Is intrigued by the unknown and a lover of mysterious adventures, whether it be old murder crimes in books or some rumors about haunted places, he is especially fascinated with this place called the Flickering Vales, and hopes to visit there one day. Has a bit of a daredevil streak, hence his love to explore caves and holes, or any deep, dark places in general. He is stubborn and has shown to be rather competitive, no matter what it is or who his challengers are, he wants to be the best. You dare harm his owner or his family and he'll tear you apart, literally, Kalei has some rather morbid and violent tendencies, or maybe fantasies is a better word? If he is in a relatively good and energetic mood, he can be very spunky and almost unbearable to deal with but know this, in spite of it all, if you earn his loyalty and love, it will never waver and he will follow you until his dying breath.
Kalei has been told he is stoic, dispassionate about many things, when that is not the case at all. He has learned and disciplined himself to be strong, to hold a front as to assure others that everything will be alright, when in actuality, he has a heart that can barely fit in that broad chest of his. When it all comes down to it, he isn't ashamed to cry and show his weaknesses, to show how genuinely happy he is to have you in his life, for without you, he feels incomplete and not worthy to breath. Don't even get him started about his obsession with unearthing geodes and collecting them, or how he protective he can be, if he was dispassionate then he wouldn't care about any of this.
In spite of what you may think at a glance, Kalei is not shy, just observant and rarely does he have much to say to begin with but if you manage to strike up a conversation with him, you'll find he is quite the extrovert. It can actually be a little adorable how passionate he can get when talking about things he loves.
Kalei is, in short, more brawn than he is brains but while not having the quick and average intelligence that is expected of his breed, he trusts in his own instinctual judgment to make decisions on who he should trust and who he should fight. He is adaptive in his own way, some things come quick while other things not so much but that what makes him perfect in his own imperfect ways.
Story: " that eve at year's end..."
It has been about almost two months since his release, and while he can no longer rely on sight to guide his path, Kalei followed his nose and ears. He was certain he found the homestead, but all that remained was ashen wood and rubble as if what was once their but had long burned down. Refusing to allow his thoughts to think the worse and sink into depression, Kalei continued looking in spite of how his body protested and how his heart grew heavier with each passing day.
As much as he enjoyed the feel of the air, the wind, the sun's warmth, the night's chill, it did little to ease his weary heart and then one clear evening, Kalei laid himself down onto a knoll of tall grass. The winter wind teased his fur but pierced his skin and ached his bones, but at least he could lazily watch the sunset, a single silver lining in the dark cloud that was consuming him. And then he closed his eyes, his heart not once giving up but his body was too tired to go on, too old. Even his stripes, the ones he was so proud of, didn't quite glow as brightly as they use to. "I'm sorry, my friend, I tried... I tried." he let out one last hoarse bark and didn't move again.
Startled awake by the sounds of cheering, loud popping and a spray of vibrant colors overheard, Kalei lifts his head in alertness, utterly confused. Everything around him was different, different from where he last laid himself. His wounds were dressed, his body cleaned and his stomach felt at ease for the first time in a long time, actually, he felt very revitalized as if he was a young adult again.
"Have I completely lost it, am I dead?" Kalei mused. Looking at his paws, he could barely make them out, only to then look to the wool blankets that wrapped around him. "No, I don't think I am... but I was so sure.. so sure I was dying." his eyes scanned around him, vaguely making out the porch he laid on. "Hmm?" ears perking forward, Kalei could make out voices and a giggling laugh as another explosion of sound and color erupted in the sky. Jumping instantly to his paws, he bolted off the porch and into the yard, unsettled. Uncertain of what to do, he squinted his eyes to look around, his stripes aglow with the same neon brightness it had so long ago in his prime years.
Calming himself, he took a breath and listened, hearing those voices again to his left. He had half the mind to avoid them, however, it was then something wafted past his nostrils on the back of a gentle breeze, fleeting but familiar enough to freeze him in place. "Could it... could it really?" he muttered under his breath, a choking whine barely escaping his throat. Flaring his nostrils, he smelled it again but stronger and coming from where those voices are, without even a second thought, he ran towards it. Towards that scent, that familiar scent; that one scent he could never forgot.
Breaking through the underbrush at a neck-breaking speed, Kalei pounced gleefully the source of the scent, a tall man with steel-grey hair; whining and licking, and if possible, would be crying tears of joy. A startled laugh broke forth from said man, trying to shield his face of the onslaught of kisses,"Hey, now, easy- easy boy!"
"I thought you said he was not one to jump and tackle." a gruff voice commented, watching this scene unfold.
"He's not, or least.. wasn't." Davik responded, trying to calm the excited jader.
"Oh lay off, Erebos, if what Davy says is true, it is a miracle this Jader is even alive and even here, he is probably just really excited to reunite with his old owner." said a chipper voice from a blonde necromancer. Receiving a grumbly huff from the other man, the one named Erebos said,"Mind you, it is only alive because of us, Finnigan," Erebos then lowered his voice as to not alert the conversation to a certain child that was running and laughing through the grass, playing hide-and-seek with an otterling,"if it was not for Adam's pleading to resurrect the mutt, for Davik's sake, I would have declined."
"Ohh, come now, no need to be so harsh; we're the three amigos after all, three amigo dads plus one featherchild at that, you would have agreed to resurrect the jader if Davy asked." Finnigan said with a soft pout, rapidly blinking his eyes.
Rubbing his temple, Erebos grumbled before saying,"So long as the mutt doesn't hurt Adam or damage any of the furniture, it can stay but mark my words, that dog even lays a hair on the furniture and I will bury it alive."
Snorting at that, Finnigan didn't believe that in the slightest, knowing the ole grumpy necromancer merely acted mean and grouchy... most of the time.
"It is still beyond me how you are still alive." Davy muttered, it had been almost thirty years since that terrible incident in the cave. Hands clasped on each side of Kalei's face before mushing it comically and moving to rub his back, Davik couldn't help but chuckle. Kalei had calmed a little, tongue lolling to one side as he panted with a big grin, still overjoyed to have found his owner again but now his attention was set on the two other men that smelt of death and another scent that was reminiscent of Davy's but different still. It was then a little child emerged, hands holding a squirming blob that Kalei couldn't quite make out.
"I caught Curly!" the child, Adam, yelled with glee. Stiffening ever so slightly, the fur on his neck and spine rose up on end, not out of aggression but protectiveness. "Now, now, Kalei," Davy calmed the alert canine, saying in an assuring tone,"They're family, they won't hurt you or me." At his words, Adam looked in curious awe of the glowing-striped jader, his hold of the otterling loosening enough for Curly to clamor up and sit on the child's head in amusing triumph. Kalei settled a little, smart enough to understand those words but as of the moment, his gaze was fixed on the child that stared at him, and then suddenly, that child just rushed and hugged him. Causing a startled Kalei to stiff up and flattened his ears, more so afraid of the little boy.
That more or less got a chuckle out of Finnigan and Davik, not because of Adam or Kalei but because Erebos looked about ready to swoop in at the slightest danger. Kalei, on the other hand, wasn't sure what to do as the child hugged him, it actually made him think back of how Davik use to hug him when he was little. At that memory, he relaxed completely and slowly flicked his ears forward, sniffing the boy's hair and now that he got a good scent of the boy, it clicked. That the reason his scent seemed similar to his owner's was because the child was exactly like him, a Halfborn mix. At that mere realization, Kalei fell in love with the child just like he had with Davik, same protectiveness, same playfulness, same everything. It was like that separation never happened, and with the start of the new year, Kalei knew what his resolution would be and that was to be as much of a protector to this child as he had been to Davik, and that made him feel complete again. Happy and whole, finally home again with a loving family that was stronger than any magical bond in this land.
Ext:
-- Got his name from a very young and easily amused Davy, who loved to take strings of dulled, stained glass and hold them against Kalei's stripes just to see the reflected lights dance across the walls and ceiling of his room and while his name his short for 'kaleidoscope', 'Kalei' is also a Hawaiian girl name that means "the flower wreath; the beloved".
-- If he could, he would have hundreds of stain-glassed bottles filled with glowy plankton, and he would name every single one of them.
-- His playlist has various songs, and while many don't have much correlation to each other, all fit some part of who he is: what he loves or how he feels, whether openly or secretly.
-- His collar is a makeshift of numerous things, mainly leather and skin with bone but little accesories added from each family member: a grey feather and brown feather from Davy and Adam, a black ribbon from Finnigan, and a button of Oblivion's insignia from Erebos.
-- Much like years ago, Kalei swore to protect and while remaining loyal to his owner, he grew a soft spot for the little featherchild, imprinting even on him.
-- Due to his poor eyesight(later on in his story and life), becoming very nearsighted, he relies on hearing and smell heavily.
-- He likes it when the little featherchild feeds him scraps from under the table, especially the carrots and peas.
-- Was malnourished when found and on death's door, half of his fur was and still is coarse to the touch and has lost its luster due to being trapped in the caves for so long. Having the help of two necromancers to heal his wounds and body, especially his digestive track; if he was truly dead or not, that is uncertain however Erebos will claim that he was and thus everyone believes it, even Kalei.
-- His love and determation to find his owner has kept him alive longer then the average jader lifespan; with the help of the necromancers, whom made him "younger" in a sense, Kalei is practially 30 years old and very much acts like a crabby old man at times.
-- His favorite season is, well, not sure exactly; he loves the colors and smells of spring and autumn, however, both autumn and spring bring out his allergies to hay and pollen, he also loves the feel of beauty and family time that winter brings but the cold air disagrees with his bones greatly and the summer heat doesn't agree with his dark coat so all have they major faults to him, with little pros scattered here and there.

Name: Sea Stone
Personality: He's a loner, what some would describe as "A depressed soul." He rarely hangs out with any jaders and prefers to look out at the sea. He loves when the waters touch his paws and the way the waves crash into each other, "like 2 wolves fighting" as he describes them. He is a very strong swimmer and will usually swim out to sea and just float there, feeling the waves crash against his fur and body as he is pulled out even more into the sea. He keeps himself afloat by using his tail like a boat motor, keeping his head above the salty waters. He usually sits there for a while before swimming back to shore. While he's out there, his stripes on his body glow a bright, luminescent blue, attracting fish that he usually eats. It also attracts giant squid coming up from the darker depths to feed. They don't bother him, just hang around and feed on the same fish that circle him. He doesn't seem to mind much, but once the sun starts to rise, he swims back to the shoreline. The squid usually follow his light until he's in 12 foot deep water, then they swim back into the depths.
Story: Sea rarely hangs out with other jaders, but will sometimes make an exception to a few. His New Years was spent with a few friends looking out at the choppy seas and having a small cookout on the beach. He caught the fish while the others got the drift wood. He was a little uncomfortable, hanging out with others wasn't really his cup of tea, but the others understood and left him alone most of the time so he could be at bay with the waves. 10 minutes till the bell rung, his friends called him over and all started sharing their New Year's Resolutions. When it was Stone's turn, he didn't know what to say; he hadn't thought about it. After a few minutes and a lot of thinking, he said "My New Year's Resolution is to make more friends like you guys." They all awed and group hugged him. He knew deep down he would miss the sea, but also knew that staring at the sea wasn't living; he was carelessly wasting his life looking out at something that would never talk, never respond to the words he spoke. He would always have the sea, but now it was time to leave it for a little while and try to make up the lost time in his life he spent staring at it's deep, murky depths. (If I need to write more, please tell me, it's hard for me to count it)
Ext: He secretly loves collecting seashells and driftwood and making jewelry and charms with them. He has a small shack in the market where he sells them, plus other collectibles, all from the sea. He lives in a shack in the jungle near the beach where he has a portholes around the shack to look out of at the sea. His house looks like what you'd expect. A few boat models here and there, a taxidermied swordfish on the wall, a chest, an old, rustic map of the world and its oceans, a bed, lamp, and table. His most prized possession though is an old wooden box that plays a song called "Davy Jones Locket." (I actually have a music box that plays the exact same song that I got for Christmas this year<3):www.youtube.com/watch?v=kTPyO3…
