I don't watch One Piece. As cool as it looks... that episode count...

yeah...it gets very repetitious and drawn out at times.Β I skipped about 50 episodes at one point and it had just barely gotten past the arc I wanted to skip.Β x-x and then it took maybe two episodes to cover a week's worth of travel, then back into another 50 episodes to detail half a day at their destination.Β and to top it off the recaps and constant repetition of flashbacks, alternate views of the events, etc etc only left maybe 5 minutes of actual story progression per episode.Β
It's a great story, just...not handled very well with the anime presentation.

Oh gawd. I've like what I've seen of the show so far but honestly, that'e just not for me. I'd rather something go on to short then to long. I kinda don't like it when something has a lot of filler.

Oh I agree the anime hasn't been up to par lately, but my gosh were the old episodes animated and paced so nicely. x^x I still don't see it worth skipping episodes when catching up since you might miss something important.
Then again that's why I usual read the manga instead but it's still nice seeing everything in colour and with sound.

when I skip stuff I check every fifth episode or so since the recaps cover the important stuff without the "talking in the middle of a fight" fluff. Β the longest skip I had was that 30-episode jump, because all the recaps were the same thing over and over. Β When I finally found the end, it had so many flashbacks and such that the skip didn't matter.
And that's not very good storytelling, when you can skip installations like that and still know what went on.

Not if your me. I hate crap like this knowing I have an insurmountable amount left and from what I hear there's a lot of filler. I hate filler more than anything else, main reason I'm never going to bother finishing Darksiders II. Bigger IS-NOT-BETTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And haha I don't know where you've heard that but One Piece has the least amount of fillers compared to Naruto and Bleach, actually they recently had a filler and it was only 3 episodes long, that's honestly not much compared to some that had 30 episode long of filler. But I can imagine how you feel, fillers are the worst way to ruin a good character and good story at that; I've heard of it happen too many times now. T.T
But honestly I can recall some fillers from One Piece and first time I watched through it I didn't think it was filler at all, I honestly thought it was part of the series until I read up on the manga.
Haha either way if you want I can list you the fillers in a note or something so you can always get back to them or whatever you wanna do really.

Honestly, there are portions you can skip.Β Some of the big convoluted fight sequences take up like 30 episodes or so, and most of them are 5 minutes of intro song, 5 minutes of recap, 5 minutes of flashbacks and rambling about plans over and over or switching between character views of the same event, and only about 5 minutes of actual progression, which still doesn't get very far.Β

I've been a fan since 2010. I tend to skip episodes, and if I want I'll catch up afterwards. I've read all of the manga up to volume 67, which helped a lot. Before reading the manga, I just read upon the episode list on Wikipedia to see what episodes I want to watch. And I can easily catch up on the events of the episode with the descriptions.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_β¦ Click on a season to get the descriptions. Not having to watch them all helps a lot with catching up. I managed to catch up within less than 6 months of discovering it. Though at that time, I caught up at around 470+ episodes. Episode 634 is coming out this Sunday.
