Alternate History – Covenant of Mecca (1939)
From the early 6th century the power of the followers of Islam had been known to the world. The Umayyads and Abbasids ruled from India to Spain and were uncontested for over a thousand years continuing until the dissipation of the once mighty Sublime Ottoman State. Now abused, occupied, and humiliated by foreign powers forcing people of the same faith against each other they have had enough.

The Covenant of Mecca was founded from the ashes of what was left of the Ottomans in the year 1935. This loose alliance promised a single Islamic banner, economic growth, and most importantly military might. The integration never took place, however, but economies did rapidly thrive in 1938. While not aligned to any of the larger world powers many nations vie for their hand in the looming conflict. Whether by seizing assents or bribing them. Control over its the vast majority of the worlds oil reserves is paramount in a global conflict.

The year is 1939, the world stands on the brink of war. The Comintern in the east grows violently spreading communist ideas, the Weltfriedenspakt believes itself to be the just global authority and pulls nations under its “authority” voluntarily or not, the corrupt and collapsing New Entente clings onto ideas of past glory and democratic purity in a changed radical world, the sleeping powerhouse of the Covenant of Mecca stirs in the sands of the middle east set on freeing the people of Islam from the oppression of foreigners, and now the Technate, a wildcard in the global stage, looms over Asia and Europe with its unstoppable industrial might.
This truly will be a war to remember.
