Description This is my WIP on a Space Marine Master of the Forge on Bike with Conversion Beamer.

I'm not sure if the Conversion Beamer is worth its costs. I guess not against Space Marines. But it is just to cool not to build it.
And you can field six Dreadnoughts. You won't probably get anywhere with that. But six Dreadnoughts are six Dreadnoughts.

Many people say the SM Bikes where ugly as shit. Correct if they are build as normal. You need something to interfere with the brick-design like the weapons in this case. Some people use to extend the shafts. But that is just unrealistic (as far as you can talk of realism in 40k). Guess how far the driver would have to lean over to reach the ground if the bike was still higher.

-------------------------------------------

Parts used:
Space Marine Bike
Front, Helmet: Dark Angels Ravenwing
Torso, left shoulder: Blood Angels Death Company
Backpack: Multimelta from Devastator box
Conversion Beamer housing: Ravenwing Landspeeder Assaultcannon
Conversion Beamer barrel: Imperial Bastion radio device thing
Plus some Bitz from several Space Marine boxes

Awesome conversion, and great choice of bits for the beamer! The bike looks so much more flexible when you cut off the under-parts. I am planing to make something similair after seeing this, although I want to ask you about the pose of the marine - how did you get the leg to stand out like that? Did you cut of the leg at the top and fil in the gap with green stuff or similair?

Thanks

As for the leg, I have cut it off along the crotch piece, and then cut and grinded the flexible part of the armor, between the crotch armor and the leg armor, to an angle where the leg fits like this without GS.

Thanks for the little bit of insperation. I plan to make my own MOTF with CB on a bike soon, although its planned to have a very different style to yours, this does inspire.

Ja, darΓΌber kΓΆnnte man trefflich diskutieren, ob ein schneller Waffenexperte mit einer schweren Waffe die Distanz braucht zusammenpasst

Danke

The Conversion Beamer IS worth its points, even versus marines. Its nice being able to pop Land Raiders from across the table. I just wish the MotF could have an invul save...

At least he has T 5 if on bike. But you are right, a Space Marine HQ should at least have the option for an inv. save.

The problem is - how often do you have a free line of sight over 48-72"?

LoS can be an issue, but with more and more flyers being added to the game I think you'll find plenty of targets in the sky if not the ground.

True. Anyway most of them won't have an armor over 12, so rocket launchers in Tactical Squads could also do the job. But picking out flyers with the GB saves Rockets for the tanks.

Very cool mini. I also have an army based around the Master of the Forge. The plus of putting him on a bike with a conversion beamer is that it makes him relentless.

6 Dreadnoughts is something you nearly never use, allthough it is very nasty! Still, being able to field my dread and Ironclad as heavy support instead of elite allows me to field Tech Marines and some sternguard.

(my first space marine army is space wolves, so for my codex chapter I went for units space wolfs can't have. high tech stuff!)

I did mine as a side-car rig.

Awesome work, i definately wouldn't have done it this way.

Thanks. I thought about that option but with a side-car it wouldn't be a normal bike anymore in a matter of the base. Also I had this Ravenwing biker box lying around

I went baseless for mine.

I've painted it now, but haven't taken any pics of it recently.

Whats your plan for on the table? I've decided to have mine escorted by a unit of Attack Bikes with Heavy Bolters.

Grombald In reply to Narric-SB0 [2012-04-02 22:17:49 +0000 UTC]

Interesting idea with the Plasma Cannon and the Heavy Flamer from the CSM.

Well the thing is that the CB is most effective at 48"-72". But there is no usefull escort on that range. Attack Bikes with HBs would be a pretty nice escort on 18"-48" though. But three ABs are € 67.50. I also thought about Servitors but i think they are more usefull for a close combat Techmarine. I'm not yet sure if and what kind of escort he gets.

Narric-SB0 In reply to Grombald [2012-04-03 12:43:26 +0000 UTC]

The Heavy Flamer is from the IG Sentinal kit, along with the plasma cannon "business end."

For the escort, it helps that my army is based on the Ravenwing Battleforce, though isn't a Dark Angels army. So I get an AB and LS with 6 Bikes. I just need to sort out my Elites, Fast Attack and Heavy Support. I've gone with Terminators (scratch built armour design), and Sternguard (just figured a unique armour design). FA is obviously one unit of Attack Bikes, probably one unit of Scout Bikes. Heavy Support will most likely be Predators and a Whirlwind.

Awesome work man. I'm a big fan of conversions. Thanks for breaking it down so others can see where you got the parts in case they wanted to do something similar, or simply go "Aaah" when they recognize the parts being used.

Grombald In reply to Trystt [2012-04-01 21:38:47 +0000 UTC]

Thanks man. Thats why I post my conversions unpainted and with part list. I wish every converter would do so.

Trystt In reply to Grombald [2012-04-02 05:58:41 +0000 UTC]

I agree. I plan to post my own conversion lists once I've finalized their building. I think it's necessary because oftentimes, if you're looking at conversions, you're looking for inspiration, whether it's making a similar piece, or taking a specific part from a conversion. So to have it easily laid out makes it a lot easier than guesswork, and answers a lot of questions.

Well the other SM players in my gaming-group think the MotF isn't usefull in comparison to a techmarine, especially with CB. I'm curious if he can prove them wrong in the field.
