Description El poder del Mito

The power of Myth

Gromyko´s periscopic vision travels thousands of kilometers from Philipines to Méxito adamantly fused by Hectorian phallic treatment in an Exquisite Corpse that obsessively shows the sadistic myth immersed in a bacchanale night watched by the nymphomaniac boogey.

*gromyko did the top half of the drawing and =ELYPhAS finished the lower half.

This is truly an exquisite corpse full of wonder and the most thought provoking elements available to surrealists. First the detail is absolutely amazing and the details in full view remind one of the intricate prints of Gustave Doré's work with Dante's "Inferno." The piece has a very religious feel to it considering the central figure - a rendition of the madonna with a vaginal face.

The upper half of the corpse done by Gromyko is absolutely breath-taking as upon closer examination it's full of couples copulating, Chinese demons and other dark figures that lurk in the detailed background. The very stylized halo around the Virgin's head is somewhat reminiscent of a gigantic gear or some such piece of machinery. The pastoral setting suggests perhaps a garden of Eden wherein the dangers of sex and evil lurk.

The lower half of the corpse is done by ELYPhAS (Héctor Pineda) and compliments the upper half perfectly! Mr. Pineda's portion is equally intricate and full of seemingly benign, yet somehow threatening elements which contribute greatly to the surrealism of the piece. The inclusion of eyes (a favorite element of mine) in the foreground gives the impression that the entirety of the setting is being surveyed quietly (and for whatever purpose) by the landscape itself.

In all, both these artists contribute a disturbing vision that is remarkably seamless for people separated by great distances, but united by a common vision. The title (The Power of Myth) is especially relevant as the collaborative artists explore various religious elements while interjecting their own elements into a work that is visually stunning, potentially controversial and unbelievably thought-provoking!

Qué bárbaro, me deja asombrado la complejidad. Es un perfecto ejemplo de caos y orden, y es curioso cómo en cada fragmento de orden hicieron surgir al sexo.
