Description This is the captain's captain of the Normandy SR-2 ported for blender. In the meantime I made a new version (a bit more accurate in my eyes) of the scenery.
I decided to share the first port I made. Please read the annotations carefully before you ask anything.
I wish all fun with this and would highly appreciated if you mention or inform me when you use it.

Annotations:
  • Take it as it is. Don't ask for anything what's not in the blend file
  • The preview image is just a sample how it can possible look.
  • Only a few holo are included. Missing ones are not a mistake.
  • Except of an overall hemi light, all other active lights are removed.
  • The fishtank contains only few things ... put your own fishes into it.
  • The elevator is not part of this package.
  • All mirror effects I use in my own renders are removed.
  • A few decorative items are missing.
  • There are two armatures to help you open the doors
  • If you think, there's something missing, than add it on your own.

I've got a question for ya! Is it okay if I port some of your Blender/MMD environments to DAZ for personal use?

As long you keep the stuff for yourself and don't publish it, I've no objections.

This is amazing. Really good work. Kind of wish there was a map release for the core and engineering deck. I've been trying to find a map of that for Blender or XPS for a while now, but nobody has ever released it. I see that you put it together at the very least, which is more than others have done from what I've seen.

Grummel83 In reply to Nihren99 [2018-12-09 21:20:15 +0000 UTC]

Thanks a lot. I've no idea how many people converted the ME sceneries.

I can only talk for myself. Even if you can extract the raw ME3 sceneries, it's a massive amount of work and time necessary to complete it.

If you like you can see here a before and after comparison.

I guess a reason why many people don't make such works public is that there are a lot of people don't really value the hard work.

And additionally I met members of this site who were the opinion that it would be my duty to release all my stuff.

Who knows, maybe if I'm sometime in a good and generous mood I'll release the one or other single room (no complete decks).

Nihren99 In reply to Grummel83 [2018-12-10 15:49:37 +0000 UTC]

You're not obligated to release anything. You put the time into it, you can decide whether you release it or not. That being said, I can understand why a few people would demand that you release it, likely because it's the only complete version out there and after putting all that time and work into it, why keep it for yourself and not share it? At least, that's what I believe was likely going through their minds, but as I said it isn't your duty or obligation to do so. Honestly the only part of the Engineering Deck I actually want for use in Blender is the back half, the part that contains the computer terminals and the Normandy's Core. Anything before those doors, like the elevator, Jack's area, the corridor, Javik's Room, and Diana's room, I don't really care about those.

Grummel83 In reply to Nihren99 [2018-12-27 17:55:25 +0000 UTC]

I'll second that.

Maybe I just had fun to solve a special kind of puzzle.

I'll think about to release something for blender only, but no promises.

You, sir, are a god among mortals. Thank you so much. This will be very helpful for reference shots for my comic. I've been kind of extrapolating based on shots I can find but this will be a gem for the panels I'm working on (which is intimidating me).

Thank you so much.

I guess I blushed a bit. Β

I'm happy if I can help. For me it's problematic to work with screenshots of sceneries. Finding the right proportions is indeed hard.

That's reason I like to work with real sceneries instead.

Good luck with you comic.

Just to show you how much you really helped me out, check out this page that desperately needed a reference shot of the Normandy.

Like I said: You kick ass like no ass kicking ass kicker that has ever kicked ass.

BALANCE2097 [2017-08-23 17:35:16 +0000 UTC]

Is there an easy way to bake a lighting source (or two or more) onto the textures? Just to get some realistic ambient occlusion going on these textures?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Grummel83 In reply to BALANCE2097 [2017-08-29 21:52:32 +0000 UTC]

To be honest I not familiar with creating light maps. But I guess there's at least one big problem with this kind of sceneries.
Multiple diffuse textures are used several times and it would be a enormous amount if time necessary to make unique textures for every object.

Oh, and yes, thank you very much for it, it's really awesome, exactly what I was looking for ^_^Β

That's what I said, but this was an earlier project which was not part of the latest attempt.
So in the end it came like I said.

Glad to hear. And good luck with it.
