Description The Culture is a humanoid society set some time in the future (or the past?) according to Iain M Banks. If you haven't read any of his sci-fi novels yet, then I suggest you do! His work is awesome!

I like the bubbly ship in the top left, it looks like a GCU to me.

Thanks!
I assume by GCU you refer to General Contact Unit! I don't recall ever seeing a representation of one, but I can imagine that it would look something like it!

Hehe thats what I meant, yes.
Iain Banks' descriptions are uncharacteristically bland with the culture ships: usually something like "a rough elipsoid x kilometers across" - I think you've brought it to life nicely

The Culture is definitely *not* the human race in the future, they're a parallel and society. In the short story "The State of the Art" the Culture (in the guise of Contact operative Diziet Sma from the novel "Use of Weapons", amongst others) visits Earth during the 1970s.

My mistake! I should have written 'Humanoids' not mankind. Thanks for pointing that out!

To reply to your journal - the bass is an awesome instrument. I got an Aria Pro 2 years ago and it's a lovely instrument. Go for it! I was in a couple of bands that never went anywhere, but hey, I had a damn good time trying!!
