Description This is either Bicho or Kanti; I don't know which.  I think of them as the Butterscotch boys!   They are unusual color for wolves and they look exactly alike.  Even the staff who work with them every day tell me that they can hardly tell them apart.  The differences in them are so very, very slight that to distinguish them in a photo is impossible.  So I will just say....it's one of the boys!  Fiona is their sister.  And they are all Dharma's children and now comprise their own pack at Wolf Park!

Taken at Wolf Park, Battleground, IN

I'm pretty sure that this is Kanti. I check out Wolf Parks Photo of the day page all the time. Been doing it long enough to distinguish between the brothers. What can I say, I have an eye for detail!

What detail do you see that allows you to distinguish between them?

The main difference is that Bicho is slightly paler in comparison to Kanti. He also doesn't have the tan coloration on his face his brother has. I believe he is also slightly larger too.

Thanks for your observations.  I found your comment interesting since Pat, who works with them everyday, told me that she can barely tell them apart, the differences being so slight.

Thanks. I guess going on their page to check out the pictures every day has played a part in how I can distinguish them.
Have you ever visited Wolf Park? I did once, back in 2008 I believe. I got to go in with the main pack and meet the wolves. It was an experience I'll never forget. Hopefully I'll get to visit again someday.

I've been a member of Wolf Park for 10+ years and I've been in with the pack for 7 times now. So, yes, I know these wolves quite well.  And I've grieved a lot over the past year as my friends have passed away.   However, the "kids" as I call them, I've not yet had the privilege of being in with yet.  I guess that's why I was intrigued by your comment since speaking with Pat Goodman recently at the Park, who works with Kanti and Bicho every day, about the difficulty of identifying the two kids and her assessment.  If anyone would be able to tell them apart, it would be Pat and she often can't tell!  This photo that you are commenting on was taken on my last visit to the Park.

I love his colouring. Butterscotch is the perfect name for it. It is great to see the family line progressing.

The staff said that there is arctic wolf in their background/parentage and thus the light colored coat came about.

Yes, I coined the term Butterscotch boys!  That's what they remind me of!

That is a gorgeous coat!
I don't think I've ever seen a light colored wolf with that shade in the coat.

Now that I think about it I think I know a few wolves that have an Arctic bloodline. There's two at Zoo Montana and I think four at Woodland park that may have varying degrees of some butterscotch coloring.

It makes for an interesting variation that I'm certainly not used to seeing.....

I wonder if they recognize regulars.

Who?  The wolves?  My answer is yes, they do.  I am personally convinced that some of the wolves that I've been in with on photography session over the course of several years now know who I am.  They are so keen on sent and voice recognition.  And I've seen their reaction when I've gone back on a photo shoot or just to visit.
