Description The line-art is both one and three years old, or and average of two. I started the sketch in eighth grade, put it away and forgot about it. Two years later, Rio goes digging through my portfolio, finds it, and asks me to color it. So I brought out the sketch, refined the proportions a lot, inked it, and colored it over a year ago. Forte's Gospel Boost design was based off of the design in the Rockman and Forte Manga.

But enough about the line art, I don't care about it. I would appreciate some constructive criticism regarding the coloring, which while done a while ago is not much different then what I do now. Done with Paint Shop Pro 7. Comments welcome.

Aaaah, so you're still alive in this account, DE.
Aweshome Bass GS! I like how you designed the wings and the booster flames.

LOL I had just hopped on my main account and was like "Hmm...this deviation awaiting for approval looks familiar ". And thanks! Can't take credit for the design though, it's actually based on the merged form from the Rockman and Forte manga.

Ah, back when I use to be good at sketching...seeing my old artwork just makes me depressed.

Okay, I'm not tearing you apart, I'm just sayin' what I noticed. Take what you want from my crazy rambling. ^_^

I think you could use some more contrast. The shading is pretty light and could stand to be a bit darker. The wings don't look like they're shaded very much... they could use some to make them feel like there is depth in the picture. Also, consider your light source.... you have that glowing bit behind Forte, but you didn't add any reflection on him to make it feel like it's present. I also think the inside of the indent on his foot could be shaded to add some depth. The highlights on his gem thing on his look great, but it looks like you forgot the one on his head. Um... that's about it. The picture looks great over all, these are just the details I found after looking for a bit.

Good work on the line art btw!

No worries, I'm cool. This is what I wanted.

Now that you mention it, the contrast is rather low. I wasn't sure if I was over-doing it or not. That may sound weird, but I worry about things like that. I liked the way the light gray parts of his armor had come out, but not the rest, and I wasn't sure why. Mostly I was experimenting with warm and cool tones, which is a concept I'm not very good with. I also struggle a bit with light sources, though I think (or hope) that'll just get better over time. I hadn't even considered the light form the rocket flame thingys. Maybe I shouldn't have added those in last. XD Not that I know how to do it.

At first I though I hadn't shaded the wings, then I saw that I had, ever so slightly. Big flat objects are my shading nightmares. ^^

Thank you so much for this nice critique!

Ah, no problem. I hope it made enough sense. My crazy flu induced ramblings can be pretty incoherent. lol
