It was a blessing and a pain every time that she saw him.
It was a miracle that he survived the assault, their heelers were all so certain that the poor boy would not survive.
The injuries were just too extensive...
...but the mechanic, that grizzled old veteran of the steam wars would not give Elias up to the reaper so easily.
It was a desperate act. A last chance amid a vast sea of pragmatic failure and defeat.
He gave the boy the parts of a "retired" steam boiler drone worker under the reluctant guidance of their finest healers.
It was touch and go for a while there, and twice they very nearly lost him...
...but he pulled through and now is almost inseparable from that old warrior.
She loved him.
She adored the boy...
