I managed to miss this one on my first trip through your gallery. I'm glad I found it this time. This is just about as perfect a lion photo as I have ever seen. Perfect composition, color, pose, and everything else. It's incredible.

I read a book called Nectar in a Sieve, recently. One of the people in this book is very wise, and does her best. This, if I may use an analogy, is like her in that the male lion looks like he's had his better days, but has still had a good time living his life.
Like in 'No Blinking', this has awesome symmetry.
I agree with you, especially about the eyes. He wears an expression of strength, fear, and confusion.
The cropping is nice as well, getting all of that fur in the photo. I bet someone doesn't get too cold in the winter...
Don't you just want to hug it...with the exception of the lion actually being alive which, if untamed, could hurt you.....

that pictures makes me think that he is old and wise. Been there done that and not afraid to do it again. maybe a tad bit tired but ready just the same. Those eyes make me feel he is not only looking right into your camera but right into me to pick my brain and see what I am going to do about it.
