Well, you know how it is...Bert and Ernie just like to go out for a few drinks...
Anyway, I'm actually from that generation that watched these guys come along...Sesame Street, and its competitor The Electric Company started up around 1972. We then watched the Muppet Show in the late 70's, and the Muppets also got a role in the first few episodes of Saturday Night Live. I always felt so sad about how the big movie execs treated Jim Henson when he first showed them "Dark Crystal."

Same here! Though growing up across the pond we didn't get Sesame Street until i was a little too old for it, shame really...

Hi again, Bob. I've been out while undergoing heart surgery, but I'm back home.
I'm glad to see your take on the Sesame Street Mob gags from Mad Magazine. It only gets better if you add 'Goodfellas' to he mix.

OMG, I hope everything went well...that's some serious stuff.
I'd like to do another one of these, possibly based on "Casino."

I thought it was a case of bad blood between Billy Batts and Tommy DeSimone. But DeSimone was a psycho and particularly didn't like being laughed at. Jimmy Burke had taken over some of Batts' rackets while the latter was in prison. He was reluctant to give them up and became a willing accomplice in the murder of Batts.

I always wondered what the reasoning of that was; it's a miracle that Batt's crew didn't just go out and whack those guys the next week.

Billy "Batts" Betvena was fresh out of prison and probably hadn't re-establish himself yet. Since he was a "made man" his murder had to be kept very secret.
Tommy DeSimone may have been killed for the murder of Batts, or for killing a member of John Gotti's group without permission, or both.

My late father grew up in Ozone Park, where John Gotti's infamous "Sportsman's Club" was located. He is buried in St. John Cemetery where my dad's parents are buried.

A very imaginative and original melding of Sesame Street with Goodfellas. I've always liked it when an artist takes the Sesame Street characters out of their preschool mold and makes them more "adult." And Ernie was well cast as the Joe Pesci hothead. But then, small guys tend to be more temperamental in trying to look tough around bigger men. Possibly a Napoleonic complex. Anyway, well done. Very well done and very funny.

Thanks! I've always been attached to that movie. The cabstand where Henry Hill used to move the cabs as a kid was on the same street where my father used to go to the movies as a kid, Euclid Avenue in Queens. I remember buying the book for my pops when it came out. My Uncle John who lived in Queens enjoyed the book as well.

Yes, I recall you mentioning the Euclid Ave. cab stand and where your daddy used to go to the movies when he was a kid. I guess, having grown up in SoCal, places like Euclid Ave in New York wouldn't have any special meaning for me. Hey, here's thought: since your OC, Richelle, is also a small person, does she have a temper like Joe Pesci? Especially if her short stature is mentioned? I had planned for my OC, Stuart, to have an affectionate nickname for Richelle and Rhonda, seeing as how they're gal pals and also because of the extreme size difference between them, and that nickname is "Short Round and Long Shot." What do you think?

N'yuk, n'yuk, n'yuk! I can see that Richelle wouldn't care for the pop song, "Short People" by Randy Newman. And I'm glad to know that if Stuart uses that nickname, there'll be no fireworks from Richelle. I can understand your wife being impatient with slow service in stores and restaurants, although I myself have an abundance of patience and can pretty much wait indefinitely for what I want.

Oh, and the other thing that would set Richelle off would be to make fun of the Ohio State Buckeyes ::chuckles::

Well, I'll be sure not to have either Stuart or Rhonda poke fun at Richelle's alma mater. FYI, Stuart went to Yale to please his father who was also a graduate of Old Eli, but then went on to earn his engineering degrees at MIT and Georgia Tech. Rhonda is a USC graduate, though barely since she spent much of her time in college raising hell at frat mixers and once got busted for sneaking into the football team locker room.
