Correcting most of the people freaking out on this page, you can in fact post someone else's work, I have, but I GAVE them props, i.e. I told everyone that it really wasn't my work, and that is alright.
Other than that, post it on your "webcam".
Other than that, you're not going to have many people who want to follow you, seeing as most of these people are saying that most/to all of your pictures are stolen. Or, not yours, taken from the internet... Honestly, I'm kind of neutral on this subject, so, scream at me if you guys want to, I'm okay with it.

i know, i found them on a diffrent sight first. i just like the picture, and i do agree with you that she should credit the actual artist. but i also think this person has an inactrive account because they havent been on da for 80 weeks, thats a year and 8 months...

Deviant-Art is specifically meant for art that you, have created yourself, I downloaded this pic to get some names of a character and it's a wonderful picture, do you happen to know who originally drew it, was it on PIXIV?
It's very important to give an artist credit for their work. When I downloaded this pic it was tagged as if you were the artist and that's really unfair to the original artist.
I'm a translator from Hatarakibachi and no matter what, we never use Deviant Art work on our blog because it's unfair to the original artists, I have seen some extremely talented people here and to have a picture like this is misleading.
If you're not going to give credit and claim a piece as your own, you're better off with Imageshack or photobucket ... Imageshack is more lenient with shota/loli material than photobucket btw.
But I would highly reccomend that you give proper credit where it's due .. Otherwise you leave yourself open to abuse from your peers as well as you can be infringing on Copyrights. One thing as an artist/translator I've learned is, ** If it's not yours, don't act like it is ** that applies to tracing and 'tracing by eye (ie re-drawing another's picture)', if you didn't add to the project don't post it here, either translate and edit it, or whatever, but no matter what you do, you must ALWAYS give proper credit to the original creator especially if this is a fan piece of work.
There are unwritten rules of the community. If you're using someone else's work;
1 - ask permission to use it (as I was going to ask you if I could translate this and post it on our group blog)
2 - if you can't contact orginal artist; atleast credit them; if you're unsure, say so, if the real owner stumbles across it - they'll say something
3 - It doesn't belong here, Deviant Art is for SELF-MADE and COLLABORATION pieces, meaning, if you didn't work on it or help with it, it doesn't belong here.
I don't mean to sound offensive and if I did, I apologize, I'm just offering some insight into how the community works, posting art that belongs to someone else is a very gray area, as a translator/editor I get credit for changing the text to english and editing/uncensoring the image but I would never post a book/picture without crediting the original artist. It's very disrespectful.
#1 rule ... if you really like something enough to share it, do so, as long as it's within public domain there is no problem ... but once an image is created, it is automatically copyright to the original artist, whether or not there is a copyright issued from the Copyright office. Getting a piece copyrighted just ensures that if someone steals your work, you can easily prove that it's your image as opposed to digging up old manuscripts and going to court. Basically what I mean, is if it's not yours, Don't post it here without permission and don't post in anywhere without crediting, if you don't know, say so, but lead people to believe you drew this image.
