Description So I saw The Secret Of Kells when I was younger and I didn't like it very much. I didn't speak much English back then so I didn't understand it very well and I quite frankly didn't like the art direction.
(Also this didn't help:www.google.is/search?q=the+sec… *Spoilers*)
But there was something about it that made my remember it. Then I found it on Netflix and my GOD was I wrong about EVERY thing!

I'm not an expert on art from northern Europe in the 9th century (Nordic art from that time period not included)  especially Irish art (Mostly because my art history teacher focused more on Nordic art when we were going through that time period and because most Irish art from that time was pretty much destroyed by vikings :/) but the Book Of Kells is probably my favorite piece of art work from that time period.

Like I said I've never seen the book (but I really wanna) and I don't know that much about it but it's very clear to me that the makers of this film love the book and love old Irish art.
Every thing in this movie looks so good and most of it looks like it was ripped right out of The Book Of Kells and the other parts look like they are straight from old Nordic art (The bad guys are Vikings) and it's really cool to see the art style change when the vikings come or wen the characters are in a stressful situations from when every thing is going well.

I also really like Asling's design. She looks like a gust of wind that's blowing through the forest. I don't know anything about Irish mythology but I'm guessing that Asling is some kind of an elf from old folk tails.

I highly recommend this film if you're in to Art history  or if you just wanna see some great art and animation.

(It's also very funny to listen to Irish it's sounds allot like Icelandic but I cant understand a single word XD. I'm petty sure that someone that doesn't speak ether language wouldn't be able to know which one is which.)
