No, doesn't look like a rapist to me... but then I'm prejudiced when it comes to anything BC... I like how dark you got parts of the picture. I usually don't use anything more than 4B but then you never get the shading that well... very very nice work.

thank you! well, i don't get that dark colours until i use a 9B, but i don't like the graphic shine it produces, so photoshop it is! my scanner usually screws up everything anyway, so i prefer photogrpahs, but i can never get even lighting on the drawing >.>

My scanner does the same, it actually seems to erase lines and just completely messes up the contrast. I end up shouting at it in regular intervals (one-sided argument I know, but it makes me feel better). And you're completely right: Photoshop (respectively my free photoprogram) is one of the best inventions of all times ^^
Yeah, 9B gets very shiny and smudgy. I have a graphite with 9B and just never use it.

ah. like john, shouting abuse at machines hehe!
my scanner adds weird colour tinges to otherwise black and white stuff, and then i try to bring it back to normal in photoshop, which is a pain because my photoshop knowledge is reaaally basic beyond belief. i don't like to draw hard on paper because it completely destroys the gain of the paper, and that's how it gets shiny and smudgy. but i have no idea how to get completely black areas and i see lots of drawings on dA achieving that and i'm like, 'hooow?!'
