It hurt. Taka knew it shouldn't, but it did. He watched his brother and father's shapes move along the savanna, so far below his perch.

Uru had gone to find a new source of water, so she wasn't able to spend time with Taka. Taka knew she was out doing what was best, but she was the only one who really understood Taka. Especially since he got his scar.

The other lionesses talked about him, when they thought he wasn't there. He always listened, in the shadows. They never said anything truely damaging or cruel, but the fact they talked about him hurt.

Especially, what they had started calling him. It was just sensless lioness gossip, and Uru would stop it, if she were there... but the names they had started calling him... hurt so much.

"The Prince of Darkness", "The Shadow Prince", "The Night Lord".... and the newest, and most painfull... "Scar"

As Taka sat on top of Pride Rock that night, excluded from all others, those feeling smoldered in his heart. The night was so warm, the stars so bright, it wasn't fair. Taka wanted Uru, or Mufasa, or Sarafina, or even Ahadi... just so he could share his feelings with someone.

But no one came.
