11,2 Km/s is the escape velocity from earth's gravity departing from the surface (obviously, the higher you go less velocity you need), so it's probably a rocket reaching out to outer space and not a ballistic missile meant to go down again, BUT there's a detail: this escape velocity is needed only if the body is a unpropulsioned projectile.
Space shuttles, ballistic missilesΒ and rockets have propulsion, so they go up at a couple of thousands of km/hour

The art is amazing, yes. BUT does noone talk about the meaning in this picture?
The innocent daily human being making a halt as it sees the majestic man made mass destruction flying by.
But this piece describes it much better than my words.
I like to look at some nice drawings from time to time, but i love to read whole stories just by looking at a picture for five seconds. Thank you, Guweiz.

But just for me it is a ballistic missle, it gives this painting so much more meaning.
That interpretation is clearly influenced by what i have been experiencing in my life so far.
