ODST: Is that... (pant) are you breathing heavy Spartan? Ha ha (ouch, can't laugh) I- I hope your not loosing your edge.
Spartan: No ma'am. Just giving you a sporting chance.
(I need to find her First Aid soon)
ODST: Pfft, says the... (cough) the one that's 12 kills behind.
Spartan: Still not taking things seriously. You need to stop playing with death.
ODST: Playing with death!? (cough) I've... (deep gurgling breath) I've nocked on his door so many times now... (ouch) that he's stopped answering.
Spartan: ...
(Internal bleeding, collapsing lung by the sound of it. She's not gonna make it. Damn shame, I think I kinda like this one.)

It might just be the scaling but damn, Halo's weapons are always ludicrously big; too big imo.
Great stuff though.

5'1" woman compared to a Spartan , weapons aren't sized to their wielders. Something small for a Spartan can end up being big for a normal human. You ever see those pictures where people hold the 1:1 scale needler? It's HUGE

Yes I know that the person holding the weapon certainly matters as you noted. But I always noticed that the human weapons are rather large even compared to those of today. (which is focused on getting them smaller and lighter) While they look well on Spartans, even on rather larger regular humans they look rather giant.
Alien weapons made for aliens I can understand. But things like the Magnum and others seem comically huge 1:1. The Magnum alone would not be usable by anyone not a Spartan. It is just something that nags me.

Well the magnum is exactly that... a magnum, it fire 12.7mm rounds for christ's sake. All human weapons have built in computer systems in them, along with the fact they are made of titanium adds onto the weight. Humanity by the time of Halo also live longer and are probably stronger then us thanks to advances in medicine.
Sergeant Johnson for example is over 80 years old, you wouldn't be able to tell that by looking at him. The tech in the weaponry and armor would help the user immensely to. If ODSTs get slight augmentations to their joints to take the brunt of drops easier, I can see some simple augmentations being given to UNSC personnel to have more endurance and strength.

This is something I hope 343 elaborates on in the future. It makes sense that, 500 years from now, with the advances in medicine, basic augmentations would be given to UNSC soldiers. We know from the Halo Encyclopaedia that they have been somewhat commonplace in the military since the 22nd century, and in the short film Halo: Landfall I recall seeing a Marine receiving some kind of injection. In addition, you can give your units adrenaline injections in Halo Wars.
Yet 343 employees on Halo Waypoint have stated a few times that Marines and ODSTs don't receive any augmentations, which is backed by Halo: The Flood. Perhaps 343 has decided to retcon it all.
On a side note, it's nice to see the MA5K getting some attention, it's a cool but very obscure weapon.

I have pondered the idea of limited augmentations to service personnel and with it being 500 years in the future. CRISPR tech will be elementary for them. I came to such conclusions myself.
But while things like electronics add to bulk and weight, there is still a practical limit. (even with all the titanium and polymer construction of the weapons and micro-electronics of the 26th century) The Magnum is indeed a magnum, but like with the Desert Eagle, it would be impractically large even if the weight is trimmed down. That caliber of 12.7x40mm would make the grip as close to being as long and big as an AK mag. Only the most gigantic of humans would be able to hold that in the grip of a handgun. (Spartans) And even regular strong people today find the Desert Eagle impractical despite it being able to be picked up in one hand.
Like I said, the weapons are just way to big even for the average 26th century human as currently portrayed in universe. Weight could be handled, but the bulk has not and it shows. It just irks me, thats all.
