All color drained from the Avatar’s face at the sight of his enemy lying in a crumpled heap amid rock rubble; the fall had not been a short one, and Aang knew full well that even he, as an Airbender, would have taken a nasty beating in Zuko’s place. Throwing caution and logic to the wind, the boy took off toward the fallen prince, alternatively countering the Dai Li’s attacks and simply taking the lesser ones, oblivious as their stone gloves grabbed at his tunic and limbs.

Don’t let him die! he found himself thinking, and for the first time he could remember the little Avatar was faced with the possibility of losing someone he cared about right before his eyes; and he could not rely on Avatar Roku to save him. Without the Avatar State to fall back on he had no secret tricks, even with three elements all but mastered. He was only a boy. And no power he possessed could reverse death.

He came crashing to a halt near the fallen prince’s body, nearly throwing himself down beside him with the added help of the Dai Li’s rocky gloves gripping him. Ignoring these, and oddly oblivious to the fact that he was presenting a perfect target with his back to Azula and her men, Aang shifted rubble away from the Fire Prince’s prone body, panting heavily. “Wake up!” he exclaimed, voice raw, hands trembling as he pulled Zuko up into something of a sitting position, supporting him with one shoulder while the other arm wrapped around his chest. “Zuko, get - up!”

This is not the prequel to the Don't Talk comic, by any stretch of the imagination. Different roleplay, different setting. ;D Just in case there's any confusion. For mah Flip, 'cause I'm an idiot and didn't write down the password for our collab.

I'm particularly proud of the wound on Zuko's left arm, but I don't think it really looks like a fresh burn. D: Woe.
