Colours by me; posted with permission

The first of the pieces I started experimenting with going lineless. It works in some places, in some places not so well, but generally speaking, I'm content with the piece, and ready to be done with the piece.

The curtains are far too stiff looking in my opinion, I've gotten better at freehand curves since then - a lot of that was done with the digital equivalent of a french curve.

The pieces of this that I'm the most happy with are probably the tree out the window (how lame, I know) and the ponytail. I really like the way the last of the hair came out. And that makes up for liking the lame tree.

I tried to use a more realistic colour palette than an animated/manga palette - we'll see how it reads.

Keep 'em coming, Russ.

In my personal opinion, Kasumi is the most beautiful of the three Tendo sisters. Nabiki can just be plain hot, but Kasumi always has an elegance about her that makes me feel attracted to her and you captured that superbly in your art. Thank you very much.

I completely agree with you... Except for the Nabiki part.
Nabiki has her moments but her greed is a big turn off.

Except for the nose. Hrm, that's a little...vague. I'd love to improve upon it, if you can give me a clearer idea of what you think is wrong with it.

I like the work in general, but something caught my eye, and I don't know what it is. I'll tell you when I understand what is it. Nice job , btw.

Yea Kasumi! I have an animation cel of her with Ryouga and matching background framed hanging on my wall right now!

I truly feel that the loss of animation cels is perhaps one of the worst things about computer animation.

Which makes collection cels an expensive, yet cool hobby. I have a bunch of Ranma cels, including one of Ranma from the second episode of the series (I actually was able to pause the DVD on that exact frame, really awesome!) one of Akane with long hair from the same episode, one of Nabiki from the Christmas OAV, and one of Prince Kirin from the first movie. Shampoo cels are expensive and nearly impossible to find.

I almost bought one, years ago, that was from Walt Disney's Fantasia. It was back when they first started opening the Disney Stores, and I found a cel from the final number - it was an awesome picture of Chernabog just starting to unfurl his wings. I thought $200 was a bit much to spend at the time, now it would probably go for about 20 times that.

Not surprised in the least. Original Fantasia cels are almost as hard to find a original Heavy Metal cels are.

Ah, Kasumi is just lovely. Again, I love your use of textures, such as in the wallpaper--it's a touch most people when coloring wouldn't think to do. You've hit the criticism of the curtains right, but I definitely know what you mean when it's time to just walk away from something you've been working on forever.

Glad to see all that work that's been in your queue shooting out lately. Groovy stuff.

Well, you know me, I tend to pay more attention to the background than the foreground. Think I've started to figure out why, too.

Been going back and watching a lot of the animated things I loved as a child, the old Disney movies, classic Tom & Jerry and Warner Bros. (pre-Chuck Jones stuff). And you know what? Almost NONE of the characters were shaded. 2-4 flat colours mostly inside the lines, and BAM that was it. But the backgrounds....oh my!!

Nobody makes furniture like that any more...so nobody draws it like that any more...more's the pity.
