Description I got insanely inspired after having seen 's amazing watercolour tutorial. [link] (go check out her work I love it).
So yes, then I decided to try it out, to get me into watercolour again and then. BAM! dryad. So here you go. I'm personally in love with the wicked look on her face.
Full view is definitely better

God this is amazing!Β  Love the way the hair looks like seaweed actually floating around her in the water.

She has such a cheeky expression! Love it! And I really like the way you've done her hair. Do you paint her skin first, then the hair, or the other way around?

H-Johanna In reply to erinclaireb [2013-08-05 14:47:22 +0000 UTC]

The skin was one of the last things to be painted, I usually save the details for last. Β I have progress photo's and would be able to make a step-by-step deviation is that is desired.

Thank you for your comment!

I always paint the skin last too, it's one of the most fun bits and the most fiddly - both things I tend to leave for last. I would love to see a step by step of this painting if it wasn't too much trouble

Amazing. She does have a wicked look but I believe that dryads are wicked creatures. I love the movement in her hair and the backround.

That is true, I have been in Ire;and just now for my holidays and I read so many folktales of wicked fairy folk, it's great fun.

Green is actually one of my less used colours, but I've been actively trying to get away from my regular red/blue/purple colour scheme

Thank you, picking the right colours for such things often still feels like a gamble. I should study more colour theory I think
