SPOILERS FOR FEAR ITSELF #3... and warning for loads of RAGE belowYes, I can't let go of it. I'm not just pissed because Bucky's dead, but I'm pissed of how he's dead. He hadn't appeared at all before FI#3, and when he did finally appear, within eight pages, he's dead. Sure, there was some shipping problem and the Gulag arc in Cap was supposed to ship the same time as FI#3, but still, this 1) feels like a cheap publicity stunt (because every event has to have a MAJOR!HERO!DEATH!), 2) feels forced because Marvel has to put Steve back into the uniform to coincide with the movie and 3) really is tasteless.
I love Steve. Don't get me wrong. It's just that I feel Bucky's been done a huge injustice, and as his fan, I feel that I've been slapped.
I'd have asked aloud why Steve and Bucky couldn't share the job as Bruce and Dick are in DC, but oh this just came in: after the AMBITIOUS reboot, Bruce is gonna be the one and only Batman. (Dick's going to be back in the Nightwing costume).
(That Batgirl is supposed to be Barbara Gordon, by the way).

I totally agree with you! At least they didn't keep him dead. We all know Bucky is going to become Captain America in the movies eventually. Maybe he will become Captain America in the comics again too. I liked him as Captain America even better than Steve.

haha the second Steve went down, everyone knew it was only a matter of time until he came back. But I love him actually in his current capacity now, and I feel that forcing him to take the shield up again is premature.

See, I think Marvel could have given the character huge validity by letting him stay dead. Just my opinion of course.
But he needs to be back 'in uniform' when the movie comes out!

Actually, I don't really understand why they need him back in uniform when the movies comes out. They could have alternate universe books or all ages books like Captain America: the Fighting Avenger (its sole issue was so good; what a waste) or origin/retroactive stories for new readers. Well. Maybe I think this way because I'm a bitter fangirl, haha.

Oh, I feel your rage. I allow myself to get much too attached to fictional characters, as well.
I understand Bucky was gonna die one way or another, be it in the Captain America comics or Fear Itself (personally, I'd rather he not be killed off AT ALL, but that's just my bias as I'm a Bucky fan).
But you know what? At least Brubaker would have done a hell of a lot better at giving Bucky the proper and heroic death more befitting for him.
But this... well, not only were the fans cheated, but Bucky as a character was as well.

Yeah, I'd much rather Bucky survive and prove his worth as Cap but since it's obvious Marvel only wants one Cap so as to not confuse new readers, I was at least hoping for a beautiful heroic death. Definitely not something that we're presented with!
