Description The Amur Leopard is probably the most endangered big cat in the world, with under 40 individuals remaining in the wild. I'm not sure if anyone else has done a stamp for this cause, but I couldn't find one when I did search a few days ago.

Spread the word, do what you can, whether it be spreading awareness or donating to the conservationists. Every little helps.

It's to late. the last count put them at ten in the wild. it is physically impossible for them to make a come back now. And zoos aren't having much luck with breeding... they are so rare that no zoo wants to give them up even for a little while to breed

nijjawolf In reply to SnowsRose [2013-02-17 03:09:12 +0000 UTC]

There are 38 in the wild. and around 200 in zoos, actually. And they're population has somewhat stabilized. I can't tell if your comment was wolfaboo-like propaganda or just a severe misinformation.. Please Make sure what you say is correct before spouting it out all over.

Nope. a traditional hot dog is made with Amur Leopard. Some are chicken, turkey, beef, or mix of them, but traditional ones are made with endangered species.

This why we must join past president, now steampunk cyborg Abraham Lincoln in quest to stop the Umbrella corporation (The real one that makes hotdogs. Umbrella hotdogs) We need your support, consider purchasing pelts and mounts from to stop this horrible crime.

I did a project on these guys for a biology assignment. We had about 20 university students who were studying to become science teachers come in and look at the project. The scary fact is that out of the whole room, only one uni student and I knew what an Amur leopard was. It's such a sad fact, knowledge of them is so small.

Agree with this stamp. This species really needs help and doesn't get nearly enough publicity I sponsor them with WWF & apparently the mortality rate of cubs in the wild was lower this year according the last newsletter I got , a glimmer of hope at least.....

Yeah, the Amur Leopard and the Iberian Lynx are both criticly endangered, yet all the wolfaboos think of is how "wolfs lek derv to live cus teh luv there mate and r magestc and IL MURDR PEEPS HO DIS WOLFS AND ILL MAUL THERE RELITIVS TOO".

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Hafr In reply to treesong10 [2010-06-28 17:44:58 +0000 UTC]

I'll probably do an Iberian Lynx stamp next. I'm planning on doing quite a few stamps for critically endangered animals that don't have much recognition on this website.

Bloody wolfaboos are a menace. Some people want to reintroduce the wolf back into Britain, I'm not sure if it'll be a good idea.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

treesong10 In reply to Hafr [2010-06-28 20:18:47 +0000 UTC]

O.o Wolves in Britten might not be a good idea. Wolves are known to eat livestock, and I've heard that back when wolves still lived there, quite a few started to hunt humans. Don't know if that's true, but even so, the wolfaboos would go nuts.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Hafr In reply to treesong10 [2010-06-28 23:10:59 +0000 UTC]

Sometimes wolves don't even eat the livestock. I think a lot of large carnivores end up going after people if they've lived near them for a while. Sadly, Wolfaboos seem to think nature is all sunshine and rainbows.

Our zoo was fortunate enough to get a pair of them (I say fortunate, because it's not every day a tiny zoo in North Dakota gets their hands on an animal more endangered than a giant panda.)

They're the most active cats in the zoo, making them fun to watch. I'm happy to report that the breeding program is going well and we've already had cubs, despite the short amount of time the leopards have lived here.

Hafr In reply to CindarellaPop [2010-06-28 17:42:06 +0000 UTC]

I was actually thinking of making a stamp like this! I recently when to a feline conservation center (where they breed threatened to critically endangered big cats) and they had the Amur leopard there.

Props to you for making this!

Hafr In reply to SizzyBubbles [2010-06-28 17:34:48 +0000 UTC]

Thanks. I was quite shocked there wasn't a stamp for the Amur Leopard. It's a shame, I'll probably do more stamps for other endangered animals that haven't got much awareness in the future. Glad to hear that there were some Amur Leopards in the conservation centre you went to
