“He has no idea.” Anya joked.
She sat in her giant bathroom on the phone. The golden waterfall of hair that she loved lay piled up on her head, wrapped around a warm towel. She had just gotten out of the shower and was having a chat with her best friend, Kathy.
“I know, I know.” She said loudly. “But it’s just so easy. My hair gets all the care it needs and I don’t have to pay for any of it.”
She reached up and touched the top of the hairy tower on her head.
“Yeah, I won’t be here too long.” Anya continued. “Once I get all the money I’ll ever need hidden, I’ll just leave him.”
Anya laughed.

Anya had been dating her boyfriend Carter for over a year and had enjoyed his vast wealth. He gave her all the expensive clothes, holidays and food she could ever ask for. However, what really pleased her was the huge selection of premium products for her calf-length, golden mane.
She hated Carter but stayed with him in order to milk him dry for money, her beauty helped in that endeavour and she was so close to getting everything she wanted.

“He is soooo ugly.” Anya whispered into her phone. “I just wish I could’ve at least gotten someone half decent.”
A sudden noise came from outside the bathroom.
“Oh, he must be back.” She told Kathy. “I’ll talk to you later, bye.”
Anya hung up the phone and quickly exited the bathroom into her giant master bedroom. She tried to hold the tower of hair on her head as it swayed violently around.
“Hey sexy.” She said seductively. “How was work?”
Carter sat down on the huge bed. His brown hair was slicked back and he wore a sensible black suit.
“Stressful.” He replied abruptly.
“Oh dear. How awful.” Anya said. “Is there anything I can do?”
“No, no.” Carter responded. “Could you just do the thing though.”
“Of course.” Anya smiled. “I saved it just for you.”
She made her way around the bed to where Carter sat and stood with her back to him. Next, she reached up and began to unwrap the golden tresses. The light from outside reflected off of them as the tower fell apart.
Carter looked up at his girlfriend’s impressive locks as she held them in place on her head.
“Ready?” She asked.
“As always.” Carter replied with a smile.
Anya let go of her hair and flicked it behind both her and Carter as she sat down on his lap. The blonde strands engulfed the rich business man as she gently sat down.
“I just washed them so they’re very clean.” Anya said proudly.
“I can tell.” Carter replied.
He gathered a clump of strands and sniffed them. It was like heaven. An aroma of different scents drifted into his nostrils.
“Oh my.” He said.
Anya giggled.
“Let me gather them all up for you.” He said.
Anya responded by lowering herself to the floor and reaching for a hair tie. The gorgeous curtain of hair fell from Carter’s shoulders as he tried to collect it all together.
By the time he had them all together Anya had gotten a hair tie and had passed it back to him.
“Not too tight please.” Anya asked.
“Of course.” Carter said as he slipped on the hair tie around the silky ponytail.
He pushed it up until it almost reached Anya’s head and wrapped it around again.
“Thank you.” Anya said while checking her nails. “Could we go to that new restaurant tonight? It looks very fancy and I have a new hairstyle I think you’ll like.”
Carter smiled as he finished off the ponytail.
“Okay.” He answered. “But I wanted to try out a different hairstyle first.”
Anya stopped for a second. Carter didn’t really know much about hair but she loved how he was trying to get used to her beautiful locks and was interested to see what he had in mind.
“Erm… yeah, sure.” She said. “What is it?”
At that moment she felt Carter let go of her ponytail which was normal. However, as she stood up she couldn’t feel its silkiness against her body. Anya spun around to see Carter with a pair of scissors in one hand and the hair in the other. Anya’s long hair had now been reduced to a very short bob as Carter held the cut off section.
“WHAT THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU’RE DOING?” Anya screamed. Her face getting red as her eyes widened with shock.
“Oh nothing.” Carter replied calmly. “Just taking payment.”
“WHAT DO YOU MEAN PAYMENT?” She screamed in response. “THAT’S MY HAIR!”
Tears began to form in her eyes.
“Oh, I know it is.” Carter said happily. “Or at least it was yours, now it’s mine.”
Anya fell to the ground screaming.
“HOW COULD YOU DO THIS?”
“Oh well, I just thought since you’ve been stealing my money before you left me, I should steal your hair.” He said. “I hope you don’t mind.”
Realisation hit Anya.
“OF COURSE I MIND!” She yelled.
Tears now blocked her vision. She could just about make out her former boyfriend getting up with her hair in hand and leaving the room. He threw her the scissors.
“I’m leaving now.” He called back. “You have about thirty minutes or so to gather all the things you can before the apartment is emptied.”
However, Anya was too distraught to answer as Carter slammed the door shut.
The pain of losing her hair was like no other. The thing she had loved and cared for was gone. The thing that she had mainly done this all for was no longer hers. Her once beautiful hair had been taken from her and what remained was an uneven bob that she hated.
The former rapunzel curled up on the floor and continued to mourn for her hair.
